oh there is a God... Not sure what he/she/it is like but there is a God... Atheists just won't admit it... We have a built in human nature to pray and talk to a God of some type, especially when times are tough.... Atheists/(or whatever they call themselves) just won't admit it... just my opinion and really could care less what anyone else thinks... find your introspective side, talk to God, he wants to hear from you

My belief is centered on humans and maximizing our time on earth in the here and now and I'm just not calibrated for the "Why" question as I am calibrated for my path and goals
Please don't worry about ME, I can think and take care of myself, just fine. Just worry about yourself 1NEMISIS.

If *your* goal, is to maximize your time on earth...why would you waste your *valuable time,* harrassing all of us with all your WHY threads? isn't there something you're better calibrated to do, in the here and now? I mean, do you ever hobby?

I don't think that there is god. I also think that life is very precious and very rare. I think that once my body dies, that will be the end of the animal known as ME.

My life is not meaningless. I try to enjoy it as much as I can, since I am very aware of my own mortality.

Not believing in an afterlife does not make me want to break social rules. These rules are there for a reason. It makes coexisting easier. If I behave like an asshole, people will treat me as such. It would make my life more difficult. It would be counterproductive.

I think that people should believe in anything that makes them comfortable dealing with their own mortality and morality, so long as it doesn't harm anyone else.

We are social animals and try to build communities with others that relate to us. It is (I suspect) a primal need, since there is strength in numbers AND because it helps us when we have do fight for limited resources.

Religion is good for some people, and they have good rules to follow at their core. I respect your need to have religious views. Please try not to convince me or insult me, because I don't think the way you do. It's just not going to happen. I'm pretty set in my ways just like most people.

That we have different views in such matters does not mean that we cannot be friends or have a civil conversation.

I saw Jesus at a Spurs game...I really did! So, if Jesus likes the Spurs...he's alright with me! (lol)

That's not rare Nikki. We are in San Antonio after all. There are a lot of people named Jesus.

Amen can be used. It actually means Truly. It is used as an affirmation.

Not believing in a god, doesn't mean that I will treat others badly or put them down for their beliefs (maliciously, anyways. I may poke fun for humor's sake).

Here are some things that I will do or say out of courtesy:

If you sneeze, I will still say "bless you"; It just means that I wish you wellness.

Merry Christmas/Happy Hanukkah/Happy Holidays; it's generally a great time of the year when most people stop thinking of themselves and behave as decent human beings. I like that! Why be an asshole when everyone else is playing nice?

I'll rattle a thank God or God Damn it every once in a while. They are just expressions that I grew up with. Nothing will change that.

You may wonder if I'm a hypocrite because I don't stand and push my way of thinking on other people. That's the thing though. I'm not that self centered. I love peace. Why ruin it by being an asshole.
