Targeted tariffs for red states amd some targeted bans.

Products from red states will be addressed disproportionately vs those from blue states. Prevents more frontloading, where available, and shows an understanding of where to press.

Will be interesting to see how the avoidance strategies play out

This may become the new normal thanks to Tariff Man

Nothing to see here folks. Just a consumption tax on the poors. Good thing the poors don't know what a tariff is.

This is really weird. It’s almost like the American people are tired of catering to everybody but our own citizens.

American voters support Trump's tariffs - new poll

Net support for tariffs on...
 China: +29
 Mexico: +11
 European Union: +7
 Canada: +4

Daily Mail rocks.

Hard to believe the guys on Wall Street hate tariffs and a “trade war”. It’s almost like they’re more concerned with potential short term market volatility than a better long term US.

Weird.

That's sus. Their reasoning had a solid mix of short-term and long-term implications, and looked to the history of Trump's own actions.

No need to start capping

I’ll ask again. If tariffs are so bad why did Biden leave Trumps tariffs intact from his 1st term?

JD Vance had a great point today. Said we’ve asked nicely for support from Canada, Mexico, and China to help stop the F epidemic, and it hasn’t worked. We’re moving on to the consequences phase.

Some of our most vulnerable people are at high risk with F. Are their lives worth anything to you and the board? Or are you more worried about paying $10 instead of $8 for maple syrup?

He didn't. He kept some, eliminated others, gave waivers on others and added some of his own. That's why the EU held off on some of the retaliatory tariffs they were going to implement in 2021 that they're ready to implement now. Do you think they will be targeted towards red states as well?

Think about how often Kentucky and Florida have been mentioned in the ramp up to this. Texas. Now look at what's being targeted. Stay focused. More to come.

The targeted retaliation can use a scalpel to deliver specific pain instead of the brute force approach.

I know where your narrative goes and it doesn't require us to discuss [prohibited topics]

So there is some targeted good with these tariffs and it can save lives. You and others will never acknowledge that because “orange man bad”.

You’re acting as if these are two heavyweights fighting. I’m fine with short term volatility and “pain” bc I believe Canada will bend. Their economy is smaller than Texas and it’s not doing well. If Canada isn’t willing to concede then they’ll feel the pain at a much greater magnitude than the US. Most of us wouldn’t even notice on the US side but the media will make it visible.

You're looking at everything in a very binary one-dimensional way. Step back. There's more players on the board and more factors to consider.

J, has also reminded me that Tariff Man is imposing backdoor taxes on us. President Backdoor. That's an apt name for Trumpybear
