As a counter-puncher, I try to give the same respect I'm given. I don't have a perfect record but I have seldom hurled the first insult. You frequently do. As far as I know, only one person on a regional board has EVER changed his opinion based on information received on that board, and that person was me. That's as far as you know. Talk about not flattering yourself. Now you understand why you aren't accepted as a source.
Don't flatter yourself that you are here to listen and learn, or educate. Flatter myself? Not hardly. I am what I am. Which is a technical instructor. I listen, I learn by checking mine and other's posts for correct information, and I educate by posting links and references. Since I am private sector, I don't care if you are motivated to learn. Learning is it's own motivation. The educational aspect is a by-product and incidental. The main reason for links is providing support for my statements. This is a SHMB, and this thread is simply an off-topic distraction. It's fun to watch you guys rant on matters that have no meaning as if they were important, and as if anyone outside of here cares. Like the board type matters. Most of the matters discussed are national in scope. Some are important, some aren't
I will have fun, and post what I think. But I'm not spending hours sourcing my opinions, I have a life outside of here, and I have already researched my opinions, and their mine. I source me. I lived a long time, had a lot of experiences, read a lot, talked to a lot of different people, and have decided that liberty is the best option. I don't need to find other people that say the same thing. If this were a serious board, I might. No you wouldn't. But it's not. It's for fun, and I'm having fun. Call me whatever names you want, the only one that hurt was "neocon" and I got over it.
|
Hours sourcing opinions? You look for outside peer approval for your opinions?
This is fun for me. I learn from searches, from some of the people. Why would I do this if it weren't fun? I even get to call someone an asshole and then point out in detail my reasons for saying that. Some may agree, some may not. Who gives a shit? It's not the name calling that's fun, it's providing the reasons for the name that is called.
You may now resume your fun-having. In case you were wondering, I never stopped.

The truth about healthcare is that healthcare is a for-profit business. They absolutely do not want to have to cover people that are unhealthy.
They are lobbying hard but thats the cold hard truth. They wish to only cover the healthy because then their medical-benefit ratios are better. The best way to drive down "medical-loss," is to stop insuring unhealthy people.
and they are very good at that. I make a good living and my wife has been on transplant list for 10 years. Every time I change jobs there is almost always a lapse between coverage that I ahve to lay out 1k-1.8k a month in cobra payments because the next insurance company would fucking love to play the pre-existing condition card. Which would mean the end for my wife.
The Obama Healthcare proposal isnt perfect, far from it, but when I think about the people who need help for a second. Even if their working they often get denied if they have a lapse, ohhhhh like when unemployment rates are high, unemployment payments wont come close to making cobra payments. so people go to the emrgency room, where they are required to be be treated... to a point, then out the door.
Then on the backend they'll get a 5-20k bill that ruins their credit if they don't pay it, that they can't pay... it is a vicious circle.
And when they do go back to work and can enroll in employers healthcare, the pre-existing condition card is first and foremost. it's nonsense.
If your young or middle aged and healthy then Obamacare is the devil. But really its making United, Cigna, and BCBS shit their pants because they might actually have to provide healthcare for people that need it.
April 20th 2010 "United Healthcare Group's (UNH) first quarter earnings were up 21% as the health insurance provider said medical costs were lower than anticipated last year.
Based on the results, the company boosted its full-year outlook. The company posted a first-quarter profit of $1.19 billion, or $1.03 per share, compared with $984 million, or 81 cents per share, a year earlier. Revenue was up more than 5% to $23.2 billion.

Yes, but that's true only in the U.S. Hence the problem.

There. Feel better now, Munch? You really showed your superiority to me, so I guess I will have to just accept my inferior intellect.
By the way, TTH, how's that Canadian, British or Cuban health care doing?

Much better than ours, if you're not one of the ones who won the insurance lottery. On the other hand, if you're rich, have good insurance, and know how to navigate all the hurdles that most insurance companies put in the way to getting proper treatment (and know who the good docs are), our system is great.

The only way those systems survive is that they can send their serious and urgent cases to the United States. I'm not going to defend health care as it was, but there are market based solutions which would allow greater access with less government involvement.
By the way, which of those countries do you go to when you are ill?

The only international destinations where I've received significant medical care are France, Great Britain, and Japan. I've received minor first aid else where, but nothing I would call real medical care. I was quite pleased with the care I received in all three countries. I've also had family members receive medical care in Great Britain and Italy, as well as one who was briefly hospitalized in France. Those experiences were also more than satisfactory. Of the four countries, the quickest and easiest was probably the doctor visits in England. Called mid morning and saw a doctor early afternoon on both occasions. The best treatment from a medical standpoint was probably France. The work up on all three occasions there was very, very thorough for what turned out to be routine illnesses on two occasions, and a very persistent chest infection on the other. Far more thorough that one would have received here. Japan and Italy were just one off visits for minor illness.

Well, let's see. Health care is a necessity, so it should be free. Food is also a necessity, so maybe we should go after all those "greedy" grocery stores who dare to make a profit because people are hungry? Bastards! How dare they? And those "greedy" realtors and landlords, making money simply because people need housing!
Why stop with health care?

Af, you are usually such an idiot, but you are right about WalMart. I won't shop there, which is my free choice. Oh, sorry about the "idiot" thing, Munch thinks I'm too insulting.
Apologies to you, too. TTH. I'm much too insulting. But I'll be honest. I would support a constitutional amendment allowing a single payer health system IF there was no government involvement in health care decisions. I would also want tort reform to limit physicians' exposure to personal injury suits, and an independent watchdog group overseeing Big Pharma, rather than the hopelessly corrupt FDA.
I would also support only stabilization care for those here illegally, and then transportation back to their home country for further treatment.
That being said, Fuck you. Oops, dammit! There I go again! So sorry!

Racist? LOL! Where in the hell did you get that? It's racist to expect the law to be obeyed and enforced? You're the racist because when you hear illegal, you automatically assume Mexican. I don't care where they are from, if they are caught here illegally, they need to go back. Even Northern Europe.
Munch, tell me this crap isn't entertaining!
