Horses do horse type things. As far as horses dying, it happens. The sport is policed as thoroughly as any as far as doping, so I am not sure what is going on there.

I had a superfecta ticket with the first 3 finishers, but was dumb enough to put Kingsbarn in there when I knew he would melt down in the hot pace.

Never second guess yourself, but it is really impossible to win every year

Late update on my Windstar Derby Bets.

So I put down 25 different 10 buck Exacta's at the same time and my handwriting being sloppy I did a 8-3 Exacta instead of 8-5 which was Mage and Tapit Trice.

Most of my bets are Exacta Box but I was feeling bold and decided to swing for the fence with Exacta's.

I liked Tapit Trice and it had a strong sexual connotations.

So my mistake gave me a 10 buck Exacta with Mage and Two Phils and a $1,600 winning ticket.

Sounds good but in the end I had over 200 tickets with only a handful of winners and ended up with 100 bucks in the end.

It was fun especially since I did not realize it was a winning ticket until I ran all my tickets a second time.....most guys toss out the losing tickets but I always save them and run them thru a second time.

You have a very smart practice. I will never forget being just a bit too much festive at the 2017 Arkansas Derby and throwing away a winning trifecta ticket worth I believe around $1600 on the big race.

I spread my wagers mainly targeting the exacta, trifecta, and superfecta. I buy a couple of super high fives with the same expectations as I have on the rare occasion I buy a lottery ticket. But I had one with 3 of the five in order. So maybe next year I will consider a wheel to try and nail it.

Any thoughts on the Preakness? Looks like almost a walk-over with Mage, with the key being hitting a trifecta or superfecta to make some cash.

I am going Perform, Mage, Red Route One box tri...still working on a super, and may even play a super high five. Mage has shown he can rate/stalk in prior races, and he is by far the fastest Beyer of this group.

Since u can play 10 cent supers and 50 cent tris, will probably wager a shit load with a few huge longshots factored in.

Good, should be a very interesting race. My SB did not even know what the Preakness was, so you're not that bad.

I sat out betting the Preakness knowing Baffert was allowed to run a horse.

There is a reason he has been banned from running a horse in the Kentucky Derby two years in a row.

He is the Tom Brady of Horse Racing.....cheats and abuses the health of the horses but he wins which is all most people care about.

FUCK Baffert!

A lot of people share your opinion. I am not one of them. The deal with Medina Spirit was overdone. That medication did nothing to help the horse run faster.

Horse racing is policed about as well or better than any other sport as far as doping. I am a fan of Baffert because he brought his top horses to Texas back when Lone Star first opened.

But you are entitled to your opinion, and I get it.

It's the same discussion with Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire.

Yeah some of the Baffert bans/disqualifications are reported as small trace amounts of a banned substance in the horses blood but the buzz in the stable has always been about him doping his horses and cleaning them up on race day to pass the test.
