Colonial Archaeological Trail

a. British Government House - This building was the second-largest structure within the fort. Purposed for housing the British governor, the structure was three stories tall with balconies on all sides.

b. Old Christ Church - Built in 1832, this building is one of the oldest masonry churches still on its original foundation in Florida. The grounds around and under the church contain archaeological remains om the First and SecondSpanish and British occupations.

c. Barkley House - This structure is the oldest masonry building in Pensacola. British and Second Spanish houses and structures stood here before the Barkley House.

d. Garrison Kitchen - This kitchen serviced military troops and government officials stationed in British West Florida after 1767.

e. Fort George - Constructed by the British in 1779, this was the site of surrender to the Spanish after the Siege of Pensacola in 1781. Fort George is managed by the City of Pensacola.

f. St. Michael’s Cemetery - This site is one of the oldest cemeteries in Florida, representative of Pensacola’s diverse past. The cemetery is managed by the St. Michael’s Cemetery Foundation of Pensacola, Inc.

g. Commanding Officer’s Compound - This area was once the heart of military administration in colonial Pensacola. Utilized by both the Spanish and British, excavations revealed a First Spanish barrel well and cold storage area underlying brick ovens constructed by the British.

h. Officer’s Room and Kitchen - Constructed in 1775, this building once housed the officer’s room and kitchen for British troops. It was later used as barracks or a warehouse during the Second Spanish period.

i. Tivoli High House - This area was once the location of the First Spanish governor’s house, replaced in 1805 by the Tivoli High House. This structure served as the center of entertainment in Pensacola into the 20th century.

j. Fort San Miguel - Constructed by the Spanish, San Miguel de Panzacola was the first fort in downtown Pensacola. The British improved this fort in 1764 with a second palisade wall and moat.

k. British Well - This well appears on British maps as early as 1778, though it could date to the First Spanish period. The well served as a water source from the late 1700s to around 1820, when it was filled in with trash.

I've thought of adding hospitals with emergency rooms and immediate care clinics.

Maybe, I'm a little bit ignorant, but I don't think a list of OBGYNs will be helpful to touring providers.

Here are my thoughts.

1. Whether the OBGYN will accept new patients is unknown and changing.
2. Insurance. Does the provider have it, and is that doctor in their network?
3. Would the doctor be able to see them on such a short notice?
4. If a touring provider did need to see an OBGYN, would they wait to go home to see their trusted physician? Or if it is an emergency, would they just go to the clinic or emergency room?
5. Do you local guys and/or girls know of a good OBGYN that you would recommend to put on this database/list?

In a future update, I’ll list where the police stations, sheriffs offices and substations are located.

While there are patrols that go around, it’s a good idea to know where these are located.

If there is an emergency, you can have an idea based on distance how long it’ll take for help to reach you.

Not sure what the average police response rate is in the area.

Also, I’m listing banks.

Ladies, pm me, and let me know what bank you use.

If it’s available in the local area, I’ll list the branches and ATMs in the area.

I think it would be a good idea not to have too much cash on your person. Make deposits at a bank or ATM during daylight hours, would be my advice.

If you look at my map, you'll see a bunch of different things.

You'll see restaurants, shopping, hospitals, banks, cell phone stores, etc.

To use my map successfully, all you need is Google Maps and the link to my map. (PM me via Eccie, and I'll provide it to you, ladies)





In the second example, you'll see I've picked the Best Buy.

It's really within walking distance. But, if you're driving, you can pick the directions here (which is left of the trash can icon)

Then you can use Google Maps on your phone as a GPS.

You'll also notice that I put the store's web address and hours of operation.

I tried to make this guide as helpful as I could.

The business behind a successful trip is logistics.

I put restaurants here and their hours.

Among those, pizza places that deliver, establishments that are open 24/7, and the nice ones that are unique with delicious foods.

Coffee shops like Starbucks and Dunkin so you can start your morning off right.

I listed pharmacies and grocery stores, in case you need things like medicine, condoms, lube, etc, etc.

Stores like Target and Walmart, so you can pick those needed items that you may have forgotten.

Stores like Best Buy in case you have tech issues, and need the geek squad, or something simple like an extra memory card.

I put banks here so you can withdraw money from an ATM if needed, or make a deposit so you don't have a lot of cash on hand (making you a target).

I listed police stations, just for situational awareness.

But, yes, to use this guide to its full potential, look at hotels first. Then, look at everything near it, and how simple it will make your visit.

For empirical data, I have 198 restaurants, 58 hotels, 11 banks/atms, 9 (company owned) cell phone stores, 9 shopping centers, 28 grocery stores/pharmacies, 14 historical attractions and 6 attractions.
