Most cities won't give a CO for adult entertainment businesses. Definitely not without a public hearing. Can you imagine mamasan standing in front of the city council explaining what her business is?


Zoning restrictions for adult entertainment businesses are tough to overcome in most cities. That is why we see them clumped together in ampville.


Not to mention, most landlords won't lease to them.



And, TDLR classifies the phrase "body rub" as massage therapy. There are a whole list of words and phrases that individuals cannot use in advertising unless they are licensed.

That review could have been written by the dentist next door to Hands On.


The trouble begins at home. I'd guess the complaints from the tenants became overbearing to TDLR and Plano LE.


Again, this is why Mapleshade has it made in the shade. Most likely they own their building and it only has one other shady tenant.

It definitely has other SubAMPs on alert. I have a location I have established a close relationship with over the past year where I have left extremely happy on just about every visit and the owner recently mentioned all the recent TDLR actions nearby shops had faced. She attributed it to guys either leaving detailed reviews or complaints by guys who did not get a level of service they read about in a review.

Hands On - I was waiting for the hammer to fall on this one. I visited a few times, had decent experiences but was always tired of the negotiating/upsell. They just seemed so aggressive and greedy. I stopped going after I ran into two hobbyists while leaving on my last visit and then watching a third walk in as I pulled out of the parking spot. It was just too much traffic for the location.

I don't believe she is correct. Most of the concerning complaints come from sub-amp competition, legit spas in the area, neighborhoods or tenants in the center.


Reviews have been around forever, as have sub-amps. TDLR only takes action when they receive a complaint and open an investigation which takes a long, long time.


I can't see John going home pissed and sending a complaint into TDLR.
