I'll keep you in my prayers. Losing a pet sucks. I lost my best friend years ago after being his friend for 13 years. I wasn't the same after his passing and I miss him. Now, I have a "son," who is a bit crazy and loves to put thing in his slobbery mouth, yet he's so adorable and idk what I'll do without him.

*clear throat* just hang there friend.

My dog passed away in 2012 and it took me several years to get over it. I never got another dog and swore I never would but I've been thinking about it lately. Your pain will eventually subside but it will take time....and I do believe dogs go to heaven:-)

So sorry for your loss. My pets are my babies too. Losing a pet is like looking a family member.

I live on a ranch and have been rescuing dogs for years. A rescue dog seems to know what you've done for them and will give you unconditional love for as long as they live. One of the most rewarding things I've done.

My beloved pets are my world. I totally understand your loss. Some pets are just pets, and some pets are more like children. I am a mom, and I love my pets as much as my child.

I lost my 8 year old doxy very suddenly a couple months ago... He was with me as I went through divorce and such and was my baby... he meant everything to my girls and I.. we have two others and watching them look for thier friend breaks my heart still. But I think of all the fun we've had over the years and look back at pictures.. remember the fun... rmemeber the times they were little buttheads too.. everything that made them them!

Default Jake !

I know your pain DT. Tears welled up in me now reading these stories.

I'm not a cat person. Never had been and I'd shew cats away that would come near me at peoples homes.

Then, we got Jake !

Jake was a registered solid grey Himalayan with bright orange eyes. He lived till last year and passed after 14 years of being the coolest cat ever.

Jake was afraid of anything larger than a mosquito but he'd hunt birds from behind the safety of a living room or backyard window. Strangers never got to meet him - they did not qualify to be in his presence. The little fucker always acted like he was too good for everything. He'd always hide till they left.

It took several years before he'd jump in my lap but he loved be loved on once he began to trust.

Jake would always do the coolest stuff. His reactions to activities in the house were priceless. I won't bore you with the details.

Jake had a stroke and he got worse as days went on afterwords. He'd walk into walls and lay on the floor and cry. God ! It tore me up just knowing what had to be done.

It was time for him to go. I took him to the vet for his last moments but I couldn't go in ! I took him back home crying and cussing the whole way. Hell, I was even speeding to get home and shouting " I'm sorry Jake ", but all Jake could do was lie in his carrier.

He got taken back that day by someone stronger than me.

We got another cat not long after Jake passed. A registered solid white long haired Persian with black highlights. Hard to believe the new critter is better looking than Jake. Seems smarter too. He tries to talk to me. His sounds are incredible.

I named him Jake !

7 But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:
8 Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.

10 In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

It's getting close to time to commit to a new best friend. I'm thinking of going with an emotional service dog. If I could just get a little help dealing with all of life's irritations that would be a huge relief.
A breed that would represent my personality that could just deal with certain people for me without me even having to ask. Dogos are a finalist in this search. A full male let him keep his balls. I could call him B.H. short for butt hurt.

Loss is Loss, it it's your loss and nobody should tell how to grieve. I can tell how I handled it in two different situations.

First with my father, our family had many discussions about "end of life". We all can to similar concussions. There is big difference between being alive and living life! When the time came I singed the papers knowing how my father was no longer living life on his terms. Didn't change the loss, but did help grieving process.

With a pet I had to be rational and put the same values in place. I had put living life ahead of being alive. Pain and suffering are the same for all living things. I know my pet was in pain, and suffering. I could not in good conscience force my pet to continue because "my" loss would be to painful.

Mourn the loss and cherish the memories!
