It is a very wise thing to do if you are not as stated above....... No need for a different agency to come knocking because you are not minding your P's and Q's..... there are plenty of professions to "Pick" from that can account for cash transactions that will keep nosey pencil pushers out of your business..... but you start collecting "toys" and no record of income to show how you obtained those..... then Uncle Sam is gonna get jealous and ask how you got them and where is his cut......... Some smart ladies posting above me about this, and it would be wise for others to listen to what they are saying......... afterall... .there is nothing wrong with being an escort and being paid for your time and companionship, right?
Good thread.......

LOL yes I file mine - for sure...just too many reasons to do it and not enough reasons not to do it.
I don't plan on doing this forever...but I lack a five year plan. I promise I will work on this and get it right back to you.

Just remember...the only thing that got Al Capone was tax evasion. And he died in prison from syphilis. Seems like some common threads...

What are some of the things that are deductable for a provider? I"m sure travel expenses would have to be a big one.

Rrabbit: Lingerie, makeup, clothes, medical checkup, food, hotels, gas, my computer..etc. Everything but condoms.. LOL!
My mommy taught me how to save receipts!
JAd, It's funny because a lot of ladies will say "I get paid by cash, there's no way they'll find out".
Well if you own or rent property, pay medical bills, student loans.. the IRS knows that there is money coming from SOMEWHERE. Just by having a social security number, you're letting the government know that you're living off of something somehow. I had this same mentality when I got in the business. I thought "well it's not like they'll know"... wrong. Better to file and pay dueS to Uncle sam and stay out of prison. I don't look great in orange .

How about the chain-gang stripes? I wouldn't think they would be too flattering either!

naomi you can deduct condoms just call them supplies. And you left out breast enhancements. While is not deductible as an medical deduction because of electric surgery their was a case in the 80's I think invloving the kissing bandit that successfully won and could prove business increase becasue of her enhanced breasts. The IRS agreed that any expense, as long as not illegal, to make money is tax deductible.

I was speaking from experience love. My boobs are natural so need for me to deduct for breast enhancements. However, you are right. Breast enhancements are tax deductible. I'll leave condoms out. How would I prove the supplies part of this? I keep receipts for everything. I'm sure they'll ask what the supplies were right? If you know something, Please feel free to Pm me .

I've been in the biz for 2 years and filed taxes both years. I own a house in another city so taxes are a must. I don't know how long I will be doing this. I actually like it so maybe as long as I can. It allow's me to spend more time at home with my family. I have a child with special needs so my being home is very important. I know some of you always say your not planning on being a career hooker and it kinda makes me laugh. It really does not matter how long you plan on being in the biz, at one point in your career you were a hooker. It is just a title actually. A friend of mine graduated from medical school 2 years ago. Guess what she has 2 titles now. Just call her Dr. Hooker, she still is a provider on the side.

I save my receipts and deduct everything except: condoms and lube (I always put those on a 2ed transaction when I go to Target).
This includes, laundry detergent, bleach, fabric softener, candles, massage oils, baby wipes, all my men’s bath products, swifter’s that I use to dust my incall furniture, mop & glo, water, soda, ect. My deductions for 2010 were somewhere in the 8k range for just the above. I of couse also deduct my incall rent, my website and BP posts.
I plan on opening a psychology practice in 5 years and I feel I am getting great practice right now on what it takes to run a small business.
