Having lived right there by the tracks in Alief I can definitely vouch for how fast the Westpark was built. That was impressive even though I think they could've done a better job.

Oh the Westpark Tollway is awesome as is the new 99 Tollway. Sugarland to the Kingwood area in 30 minutes or less!

Even though it is a greenfield eminent domain still must be done in order for it to move forward. Much less quantities to deal with than on 290 with businesses a, homes, and apartments all along the way.

One thing they did do prior to the construction work was to repave Hempstead Hwy so that traffic could flow much better. Before then it was hit and miss the pit holes and truck ruts. The biggest issue with that corridor was the train tracks. The tracks at I10 were eliminated ant the traffic switched to the track on Hempstead and others.

How long has 59S been under construction? They widened the sections north of the Galleria, put in those pretty bridges, then they found out that it flooded, then the excess capacity never came to fruition. And it's still a parking lot for four hours each work day.

All these projects just put money in the hands of the downtown land owners. At least the Woodland projects are encouraging sprawl.

Most projects are completed using projections from 20 years prior to the start of construction.

I firmly believe that there are those that perpetuate their careers by under designing so they can start the new design as soon as they finish the old one. Do not sell those Aggies short.

From my understanding there was a vote on making 59S a super freeway like I-10W but it was shot down because people didn't want to wait that long for construction to be built and the businesses in that area would had taken a heavy blow in the down time. But I also agree with 2Dogs about undermining projects to keep milking it.

HAHAHAHAA!!! NO!!! They will never be done. I was born and raised here. I grew up out in Cypress. I can remember when 290 stopped being a freeway just before Jersey Village.
