Correct. They are simply to busy dealing with court order and public safety emergency requests. For which ISPs have posted procedures that even public safety, etc. have to follow. So look up your ISP/Telco/Cable procedures if you're really worried. Or pour a double whisky, as there's nothing you can do about it anyway.

I'm sorry but that really doesn't make sense to me. Whether people can connect to this site through Tor or not has nothing to do with the attention it gets. People who have never heard of ECCIE can end up here very quickly from a google search of a phone number or something and see within 10 seconds that this is a hooker board. How does Tor being in the mix or not affect that kind of bad attention?

As for a user being more or less of an asshole based on whether they can connect to this site using Tor, that also seems like a big stretch to me. From what I've seen, moderator disciplinary action here is typically account-based rather than IP-based. The moderator actions I've seen that relate to IP addresses have to do with enforcing rules about multiple accounts, and that's pretty easy for a troll to get around with the number of locations out there offering free wifi. Banning a Tor exit node because someone who connected from there posted like an asshole or used multiple accounts is like banning the IP address of a popular McDonald's because someone connected to ECCIE from there and posted like an asshole or used multiple accounts. All it really does it punish everyone else who connects from that location, and there is always another McDonald's for the troll to move on to.

Your ISP always knows when you are logging on or using its network.

Your ISP is always aware of how many bits or gigabits you are using...and when.

That doesn't necessarily mean your ISP is tracking any or all of your traffic.

But, even when you TOR, your primary carrier still knows you are on line and your carrier has the capability to track certain movements. Doesn't mean it tracks you, per se, however.

Guvmint has way more capabilities to track traffic movements if guvmint has a notion or a need to do so.

Heck, who knows already how many TOR exits are located at or even in guvmint facilities?

Not saying any are, but guvmint already has the legal ability and the power to order, ordain or overpower TOR exit facilities.

Whenever an observation of encrypted traffic is made by guvmint you can bet a bottomless dollar that guvmint's "antennae" are twitching somewhere.

Not trying to exhibit paranoia, just saying the way to steer clear of guvmint eyeballs is by trying not to be too obvious.

G at the federal level is not terribly interested in the P per se, only the human trafficking or the underage elements.

States and locals don't have the same kinds of resources that Big G has.

Tor unlike a vpn has a shit ton of attention from the NSA and such right now. Especially for using tor to access stuff like this you are just making yourself a target.

As for dealing with trolls evercookie and mod security would make that a 100 times easier. Evercookie the troll you banned after using mod security to figure out its the same troll and he is not coming back. Theres ways around this but none of the trolls here have the it skills to pull it off.

That's a pretty broad statement. Are you really thoroughly familiar with the IT skills of every troll on the board?

I agree that things need to be unblocked. I use(d) TOR for the site and got blocked. Changing identities did not help, as they got blocked right away. Email from moderator confirmed that both TOR and VPN are blocked. I responded back that this is a maddening short sighted decision.

My temporary solution is once inside of TOR, find a free proxy site and then get to ECCIE that way.

I prefer to decide my level of security vs. listen to others tell me that its no big deal, its only a misdemeanor, etc. I did not get a hobby phone (with cash), in another state, that I remove battery when not using, and try my damnest to keep my real world identity from my hobby one, to allow "viewing from my own ISP or a public Wi-Fi" as explained in the email to me from the moderator.
