There are quite a few thrift stores north of the river.

DAV Thrift Store - 6314 N Oak (Next to Smokehouse BBQ)
it is where I found my largest treasure so far... a box full of old Commodore computers stuff for $25 bucks.
buried in the bottom was a 1581 disk drive still in it's box and in mint condition... my fellow computer nerds will know what a find that was.

Goodwill - 4824 N Oak (Price Chopper is in the same shopping center)

There are a couple more but I can not remember the names right now.

Thrift stores can be the way to go, but be careful of what you might find in the cushions:

Best line from the article: "We almost didn't pick that couch. It's pretty ugly and smells, but it was the only couch that fit the right dimensions for our living room."

I would like to say that I would be able to return the money... Oh whom am I kidding, you ladies would earn every penny of it from me.

Just kidding... hope you have a great move.
A better perspective is that the fantasy neighbor is actually the fantasy neighbor.
Welcome north Emmie.

In addition to NFM, maybe take a look at Fat Daddy's @ 3011 Roanoke Rd. And of course I'm going to suggest that wherever you shop, you pick up solid wood pieces.

The major concern I have with purchasing used furniture is the potential presence of bedbugs and/or other nasty insects. Inspect your potential purchase carefully, inside and out, underneath, etc., before dragging it home.

Congrats on your new place, Emmie!

If you like eclectic and don't mind the hunt there are always estate and moving sales. They post every Tuesday or Wednesday and they are held from Wednesday to Saturday with mark downs after the first day. Sometimes you even may be able to haggle the price down. Everything from beds, refrigerators, sofas, chairs, dining room stuff, art, clothing (that seems a little weird sometimes until you find a leather Harley jacket in your nephews size for $40)

I thought about estate sales but I was unsure as to when people posted their information. Thanks for the information! !

It's a very odd feeling when you are pumping gas and look up to see your wife holding open the door for the provider that you just seen the day before...
