The federal Travel Act is aimed at combating certain crimes that involve interstate activities (activities or travel
across state lines). The Act does not make it a federal offense to engage in prostitution. Instead, it makes it a
federal offense to use interstate facilities and interstate travel to facilitate prostitution (to make it easier to
engage in the act of prostitution.)
18 U.S.C. § 1952(a).   The Travel Act defines as an “unlawful activity” any crime of prostitution under state law.  Id. at § 1952(b).  Thus, a person launders money if he makes deposits and withdrawals at banks (conducts “financial transactions”), knowing that they contain proceeds from prostitution (“some form of unlawful activity”), in order to promote using credit cards in a prostitution business (a “specified unlawful activity”) if the proceeds from prostitution in fact involve monies from credit card transactions in a prostitution business (“specified unlawful activities”).   See 18 U.S.C. § 1956(a)(1)(A)(i);  United States v. Griffith, 85 F.3d 284, 287 (7th Cir.1996);  United States v. Montague, 29 F.3d 317, 321-22 (7th Cir.1994)

hotlips, the eat crow remark was aimed at me as well ?

Perhaps you did not read my post nor clicked on the link that explains and cites specific cases of escorts prosecuted under the act.

...interstate facilities and interstate travel to facilitate prostitution

Using interstate banking is one of those examples.
Reading comprehension problem ?

Reading comprehension problem ?
No, I do not have a reading comprehension problem. I merely quoted your proof.
Sorry, I should have put your quote first. So no doll, it was not aimed at you.

In Mexico if you didn't have cash for them to steal they (the criminals) would take you to an ATM and make you take cash out, twice two of my employees got killed shortly after withdrawing the maximum from the bank. Both were shot in the head right in front of the bank.
I used to think carrying small amount of cash was safer....now I carry at least a 200 just in case...and I live in Dallas now...lol.
So in general CC are ok for paying for dinner and drinks but for a womans delights...NO.

Hotlips got it right.

In Pittsburgh, PA the US Attorney's office brought federal charges against the Roman V health spa. The jurisdictional hook that allowed the feds to get involved was spa’s use of credit cards. Credit cards require interstate bank communications and interstate money wire transfers.

The bill appeared on the credit cards as flowers.

A lot of people, who most assuredly would have preferred to remain anonymous, were publicly dragged into court to testify in the federal courthouse. This was about 10 years ago. It made a big splash in the local papers.
