Really? What's the income cutoff level that's 'ideal' for hobbying? If a guy, for example, makes $100,000 a year, but spends $105,000 a annually, can he 'afford' to hobby vs a guy who makes $27,000, but lives rent free in his mom's attic?

Ok, let's kick all the 'broke' guys out of the hobby. Now what? Will the rich guys take up the slack? These guys are most likely spending as much as they WANT to spend already. But now, the demand for their money has gone up. Ladies are wanting more appointments from them. "Hey, rich guy. Come see meeee!"
Are you rich guys ready to shell out more money, handle a bigger wave of appointments, be in high demand, to pick Provider A over Provider B?
A privilege of having more money is being able to spend on your terms, not being influenced into spending [recklessly].
Affordability is in the eye, err pocket, of the beholder. There are varying levels of income in the world, and the natural act of sex shouldn't only to those who make outrageous amounts of money. Just like food and water, and shelter. If the 'standard' of owning a car was a Ferrari (meaning, if you can't afford it, no car for you), how many of us would be public transportation riding fools?
You keep clipping at the bottom of society, and eventually you'll notice that you're running out of space beneath you. And one day somebody will come to clip you.
Then again, maybe I'm only saying all this because I'm a cheap bastard who needs to quit the hobby.
