OK This thread was hilarious. Seriously one for the memory books. I have only one question.

Where can i find these "easy to get guns"? I have to go through hell every single time. If you guys know where it's FRAKING EASY? FILL ME IN PLEASE. As it stands, with regulations added, it'll be damn near impossible to get guns. Thank you Jesus for the CHL, and F U Texas for making that mandatory in order to carry.

It's only "mandatory" if one wants to be legal. Kinda like fucking.

To be legal its mandatory that you give it away.

see But Lexus that's the liberal in me. Everything should be legal. Everything. Your rights end the second they end up in my immediate personal space against my will... other than that.... legal. They tend to shoot you if you fuck this one up. (I mean with not having that CHL.... I refuse to be unarmed in this day in age.) I'm willing to bet people start saying that more.

Actually gun ownership in homes is estimated to be at the lowest level in about 50 years.

I have no problem with people carrying concealed handguns -- but with a valid CHL which requires they pass a test showing reasonable competence with the handgun and understand the laws regarding using it. The second a person leaves their home with a handgun, no matter what their intentions, they potentially put others at risk. Life is not always about what you or I want.

How, exactly, does my concealed weapon put anyone at risk? Unless you are talking about any potential bad guy.

That's a "Classic Liberal" and not the modern progressive liberal. They interviewed Charles Koch last night on the Kelly Files and he described himself as a classic liberal. Meaning the maximum amount of freedom for the maximum amount people.

Answer my question before posing a new one.

By the way, your question is a pretty stupid question. The mentally ill, if they are violent, DON'T give a shit about the law. How many times does that have to be said before you understand that? Criminals don't care about the law either or only to the point that they can write it off as the cost of doing business.

I could go through countless scenarios in which a person with a concealed handgun could be tempted to pull it and start shooting without taking into account the safety of EVERYONE, not just himself. You are, I assume, fairly skilled with a handgun. Very few probably have your level of expertise. In some states I, who have never fired a handgun in my life, can simply buy one and legally walk down a busy street with it concealed wherever one conceals it. I see a crime being committed. What are my rights to intervene? I don't know since I've never been to a class informing me of such rights. Google Fred Yazdi. I decide to fire at the bad guy. Never having fired the handgun, what are my odds of hitting him or an innocent person?

The more knowledge and practice a person has with a handgun the better for all IMHO.

Yes, now answer mine.

Or does the fact people convicted of domestic abuse can carry a concealed weapon bother you?

In Texas in 2013, the estimate is 158 out of 50,869 crimes were done by those with CHLs. About 3/10s of 1 percent. However, 1.8% of "Deadly conduct".

https://www.txdps.state.tx.us/rsd/ch.../convrates.htm

I ran across an interesting Letter to the Editor in today's Austin paper. It came from a certified CHL instructor in Texas. He stated:

"The purpose of a CHL has never been to replace police officers in the pursuit and capture of a dangerous armed felon; instead, it is meant to give a final fighting chance to those who are so unfortunate as to encounter an imminent threat of death or serious bodily harm to themselves or loved ones. Concealed carriers understand that using their firearms in any other way will not only place themselves and others in grave danger, but could also be a violation of the law exposing them to both criminal and civil actions."

I agree 100%. Protect yourself. Don't protect me. Understand the laws.
