What would do if you set up an appointment with a new provider only to find when you arrive it is someone you have seen before?

I'd do something radical and crazy. Like I might say, "Hey, we've met before. I saw you back when you were working under the name <whatever>. It's great to see you again!". (The last only if my previous encounter with her had not been unpleasant in some way, of course.)

Generally I find the gent says something along the lines of "Cool! What a surprise! Good to see you've been able to raise your rates! Tell me everything that's happened since we last met!"

An unexpected reunion with a positive past date is a cause for celebration.

I've only had that happen once before (with less than 2 weeks between meetings). The first time was "Ok" as in she did nothing "wrong" the first time but heavy YMMV. I greeted her with, "Nice to see you again. I think I'm going to pass this afternoon." She smiled & wished me a good day.

On the other hand, if she'd been great the 1st time around I probably would have stayed.
