contacting SPs
I am by no means an expert in the hobby but many of my good friends are young women so I'd like to shed a little light on something I've noticed in reviews, specifically in regard to contacting SPs.
I've seen a lot of reviews of different SPs where the hobbiest says something along the lines of "I called and an hour later she hadn't responded so I called her again and then 15 minutes later I called her and then sent her a text and now I'm starting the fire for the smoke signals but the fire is taking too long to start so I'm getting my semaphore flags out, etc., etc..."
For whatever it is worth, it has been my experience that young women get annoyed when they receive multiple texts/calls before they've responded to your first text or call. If they haven't responded yet it's not because they didn't get your message.
If I wait until they respond to my first attempt to contact them before I call or text again, I have a much better encounter than if I send multiple texts or call multiple times before I've received the first response.
I do understand the nature of the relationship between hobbiests and SPs and have no illusion of it being anything other than what it is but still it seems to me that it is a little more intimate than being served at a restaurant or making a deposit at the bank and as such requires a little more tact than would be needed when interacting with a teller or server...just saying.
