Default A Whoopin' By the Bay

Well, I didn't think anything could be uglier than the performance the Chiefs put on in Denver. Shows how much I know. This was by far the worst game they've played.

The Good

Pretty much everyone had this one penciled in as a loss, and a 31-0 loss doesn't hurt any more in the standings than 14-13 loss.

The Chiefs still have a one game lead over the Chargers, so they still control their own destiny.

The Raiders lost, so there's only one team breathing down our necks.

The Bad

Offense, Defense, and Special Teams. They couldn't run or pass and couldn't stop the run or the pass. Aside from Berry's interception and Hali's strip sack there were no plays of note made by anyone in red pants.

The Ugly

We now know what this team looks like with Brodie Croyle at QB. I would only estimate his play made up about 30% of the awfulness that was this game, but Cassel is looking really good right now.

It wasn't just Croyle, yeah he looked very jumpy back there. Maybe it's just me, but the Chiefs looked like the Chefs of old. Very soft, got muggged at the line, every thing else collapsed after that. I would've have thought this was the game of the day, but JAX/OAK turned out to be the one to watch. Big plays, very hard hitting football. They played like two teams with plenty at stake. They may have beaten the Chiefs if Garrard would have played. Chiefs played like they wanted to get out of town with as little pain as possible and wrap things up at home. Just my view, I stopped watching when it was 21-0.

I've always wanted Croyle to do well (because of his Bama connection). But, sadly, I'm on the 'trade Brodie' bandwagon now. Maybe he'll do well somewhere else; but, he's 0-10 as a starter in KC .

I agree and after the disappointment yesterday I would be surprised if the Chiefs keep him next year. As much as I want to see the Chiefs take the division I think they are going to have a hard time at best since they have a much tougher schedule than the Charges in the last three games. I really do hope for the best when it comes to the Chiefs and I am sure the last three games will be nail bitters. On a side note it was nice to see the Raiders lose.

This game made the Chargers losing to Oakland all the more important. St. Louis won't be a cake walk, but should be a probable win. Tennessee could be tough if somehow that passing game gets turned on again, and with the talent Moss has he can burn us quick. Though I doubt he'll be that effective. The Oakland game will probably end up being for all the marbles, unless the Bungles or 49ers or Donkeys somehow manage a win.

I agree. A little to much deja vu for me. My .02: The Chiefs didn't want to win this game badly enough. They knew they could write it off using the Brodie excuse, and they were a little bit complacent because of their two-game lead. Real champions know how to stay hungry and focused even when times are GOOD.

Not knocking the Chiefs. I still love em, and I think they can make it to the playoffs, but I have to call em like I see em.

I did see an interesting stats, some high profile QB's lost more games than Brody before they won, the one I remember right now is Troy Aikman, I beleive it was 0-11.

Sounds about right. I believe they may have been 1-15 that year. The Chiefs actually beat them when they were still bad. The big difference is that Aikman and his support cast grew up together. The Chiefs don't have a receiver the caliber of Irvin. They also developed a hell of a O-line since Aikman was about as fast as Marino. Don't forget, Denver fans were ready to run Elway out of town before he developed. They all take their lumps and learn or wash out.

I saw that graphic during the game. Out of the four other QB's who went 0-10, 2 are now in the hall of fame.

But lets face it, Croyle was afraid to throw to the middle of the field. I don't know if it was him or the coaches, trying to play it safe....but wow it was bad.

Prediction: Chiefs will make it to the playoffs, only to be humiliated the first game.

Highly likely, unless the Jets continue to fall apart like they have the last two games and the Chiefs still get the 3rd seed. If they play Baltimore, they will definitely be humiliated.

Was a horrible game plan all the way around!!! Don't just blame Brodie he only gets to execute the plays the coaches call and they did a horrible job of play calling!!! Its almost like they figured we have a game in hand so lets just try not to get anyone hurt and get back home asap!!! Truly no guts no glory!!!
