He died? I thought it was the other actor who played him who died

Yes, he did. I believe it happened between the third and fourth movie in the series.

I like the movies, love the books. Very well crafted. Have read all of them, having picked up the third on a whim at an airport in my corporate warrior days. Went back to the beginning and became a pre-order junkie.

I tried to avoid it, but I have three daughters; kinda got roped in. I am a big reader, so I read all the books before watching the movies. Now I am an addict. I think they are great. As a side note, if you like HP, there are several other trilogies that are excellent reading and are slated to be made into movies. The Twilight series, obviously, as well as 'The Hunger Games' by Suzanne Collins and the Steig Larson trilogy beginning with ' The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo'. All excellent.

I totally agree. Richard Harris made Dumbledore like Sean Connery made James Bond.

I'm glad this last movie left off where it did... I didn't want to cry again.

But the ending didn't make sense. Was that scene in the book?

I have never seen Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, the new Star Wars, or Twilight. And I am OK with that.

Back when I was in high school I had a date with Harriet Potter! She was hot! I doubt seriously that I would have ever asked her out if her first name would have been Harry.

Rowling got the kiddies to start to read again. For that simple fact I like the series. Now I am waiting the girl in the movie to get to legal age.

Those books were a guilty pleasure. I got the last three the first day that they came out. But I found some of the reading to be cumbersome/plodding/boring at times. But the good parts were really great.

Probably my favorite line was when Mrs. Weasley went after oh, what's her name during a fight and told the girls to get out of the way because, "That bitch is mine". Or something along those lines. And she killed her. It was great to see a middle aged crone be able to jump bad like that! (Gives me hope!)

I haven't seen the last movie but would like to. I've just been REALLY busy!!!!

Good topic!

On just a very slight segue, I always wanted to boink the werewolf character from one of the the movies, Lupin. He was just so damn cute!

His character was adorable. Well, until he turned into a werewolf!!!
