Does Texas Hate Me?

Ok, I'm in Dallas and I am permanently traumatized by Gackles. I leave Dallas yesterday and come to Austin. I heard so many awesome things about Austin and am so excited to get here.

I get off the train about 9:00 p.m. I am looking for a cab. A man approaches me and asks me what I am looking for. I begin to respond, "I'm looking for a cab" and he makes a grab for my purse.

I yell and pull back and he then grabs my computer case, wrenches it from my arm and takes off. A cab driver sees him and runs after him....but he couldn't catch him.

The guy made off with my computer (which he can't get into), 2 prescriptions and the souvenirs I got for my kids.

I am from Chicago and have never been robbed....I tour and what happens?

I had to buy a new laptop (that wasn't enjoyable) the only thing that is left is getting my prescriptions replaced. Does Austin have those emergency care walk in places. My doctor is on vacation until next week...hence, I can't get him to call in a script for me.

Why does Texas hate me????

Try a Prima Care location for a Sunday appointment. If your prescription is with a National chain like Walgreen's, maybe they can locate your prescription in the national system. Possibly a drug store could call the pharmacy were you purchased the prescription and refill it for you. Good luck babe. Hope your luck improves.

Transfer your prescriptions thru a pharmacy here, then just transfer them back when you get home. Something similar happened to me once while traveling out of state (in that case, the pharmacy actually was going to give me a few days supply if a transfer became a problem, couldn't believe it).

That is terrible! I have never had any bad experiences in TX but I hope it all gets better for you.

Gee,I was just thinking of going to Autin on my way to the East Coast.........but I do hear it's a nice place.

Sorry to hear you mis-happens, but as mentioned above "Many assholes everywhere", most people here pride ourselves on being known as the "Friendly State" but .....

Most of the people here travel other means than train thou, and many of the less fortunate hang out at the bus and train stops. Walgreens and CVS on every ten blocks or so, directly opposite of eachother..

Sorry to hear of your woes, but for the most part, we love everybody here in Texas and hopefully there will be no more traumatizing incidents before you can get back home!
