Of things Journaled, Diaried and Blogged
It seems possible that women given to this vocation give account of their observations, emotions, reactions, experiences, and aspirations in blogs either as part of or distinct from more common revelations in numbers that surpass expectation (at least mine were exceeded).
Some do this to record the more interesting moments of professional activity in which they found themselves engaged. writing, not in course ways or for stimulative purpose, but as a record of unusual occurences that may be of some humourous or instructive value to others.
i find i am subject to the allurements of those (those that write) in greater waves of temptation than to those that remain subject only to revelation by more common methods.
I think its quite healthy to write, its allows you to wrap your dreams around your troubles as an escape, it unburdens you as if an excercise that sheds the fat and excess accumulated from mindless living, it sharpens your wit and instructs your mind, forcing the winnowing of thought to that which is more important to each, it informs others, its a record that outlives should it have value. it can cause the uncharitable to become more giving.
Who among us would not be engrossed to come across the diary of their great great grandfather or even their own father should he have passed from this life and the joy and tears and understanding it might bring?
i recall fondly one girl from my youth, the mere recalling fills my time and gives me a wistful joy thus having great value to me, who maintained a diary she carried about, the contents remaining ever so precious to her and unrevealed. one boy wickedly obtained it and began to read it, soon enough he returned it to its place and would only tell me it was all about me, it having sobered him to silence from impishness.
there are great diaries studied in literature revealing times and emotions and events and insights and truths not available to us in any other way.
here is one example
From the Diary of John Evelyn (upon the denouement of the great civil war in England and the execution of royalty who lost):
July 15, 1685. Of his faults he (Monmouth) professed great sorrow, and so died without any apparent fear. He would not make use of a cap or other circumstance, but, lying down, bid the fellow to do his Office better than to the late Lord Russell, and gave him gold; but the wretch made five chops before he had his head off; which so incensed the people that, had he not been guarded and got away, they would have torn him to pieces.
The Duke made no speech upon the scaffold, which was on Tower Hill, but gave a paper containing not above five lines for the King, in which he disclaims all title to the crown, acknowledges that the late King, his father, had indeed told him he was but the base son, and so desired his Majesty to be kind to his wife and children.
Thus ended this "quondam" Duke, darling of his father and the ladies, being extremely handsome and adroit, an excellent soldier and dancer, a favorite of the people, of an easy nature, debauched by lust, seduced by crafty knaves who would have set him up only to make a property, and taken the opportunity of the King being of another religion, to gather a party of discontented men. He failed, and perished.

I am of a mind that there are two kind of diaries. One written for others and one written for oneself. Blogs are the former and thus about as useful as Mark Twains translation of the diaries of Adam and Eve. Entertaining at best but narcissi seems the norm in these blogs.

I have:
- A business blog
- A personal blog
- A paper journal
Apparently, I have a lot to say, though the work blog is only updated a few times a month. I've kept paper journals since I was about 7 or 8; I have a box full of them. While ponies don't really get mentioned much any more, I only write marginally less often about cute boys now.

I have a blog on my escort website to share myself and thoughts with clients. And I started writing more after several clients encouraged me to do so. Whether or not the masses do, these clients enjoy my blog, which keeps me writing. And my blogs on likes/dislikes, music interests etc. were posted to ensure gentlemen are well-informed before seeing me. Some gentlemen use my blog as a guide when starting conversation on things we have in common.
So blogs aren't always to feed one’s ego, and in general they are simply a good marketing strategy recommended in any Internet Marketing book, if used for business purposes. Also, personal blogs are a great way to express oneself and keep creative writing juices flowing.
I do love to write and I really wish I had more time to blog about other life matters, but alas I do not.
Xoxo.

I used to keep written diaries too Carrie until I was about 14. Looking back at some of the earlier stuff..it just makes me laugh when I see my writing...when I was clearly just learning cursive writing in school. What a mess lol. It strikes me that I was clearly very unhappy about having to wear a school uniform too, which is funny because I don't remember that at all..and pretty mortified that I was at one point the tallest in my class (inc the boys)...now THAT I do remember. All stuff that was M*A*J*O*R* in the days before mortgages etc. Funny stuff.

Agreed, I been saying that very same thing since blogs appeared in the industry. It is a marketing tool. If it is not a business tool than it is nothing more than a inflated self importance megaphone? No different than if I wrote on the bathroom wall who I screwed and signed my name to it. That would be my ego shouting , "Look at me!''
I think that is Facebook's business model. Nothing wrong with it but it is what it is.

Like a diamond, a weenie should never be referred to as "cute".

I agree with this observation. I find diaries and blogs written for the writer a tedious read. In my business we call it "intellectual masturbation". I have come across few non-professional blogs that I could keep up with on a regular basis.
Blogging for me is primarily an indirect communication between me and my friends - not just the few gents I philander about with, but pen pals, and casual friends as well.
I also use it as a way to share the wonderful things that cross my world - I am enamored of words and thoughts, and am overjoyed that the internet allows me to share the amazing things I find. I also enjoy writing short stories, and what good is it to write them, if no one reads them.
Admittedly I'm working on a new website and have been most lax in updating my blog. To my surprise when I hadn't put up a short story for many months, I had people I never heard from in any context previously writing me to say 'Why did you stop?' Interesting to know that I had people who never emailed me, who never posted on boards, for some strange reason keeping up with my erotic fiction. And flattering to say the least.
On the opposite end of that, I occasionally have people read something in my blog and contact me only to discuss that piece. Which is quite nice. It's like running through a meadow with your eyes closed and seeing what butterflies you catch in your net. When you reach out, you never know who you will touch.
