It's hard to believe that 20 years have passed since SRV died in a helicopter crash. It's especially sad to think about how he had been overcoming his demons and turning his life around, only to have it end in a blink of an eye.

I'm grateful that I had the chance to see Stevie play live at one of the T-Bird River Fests a few years earlier. It was incredible to see in person what he could do with a guitar! I think I'll put my copy of "In Step" on the turntable this morning and give it a listen.

I saw him at the Cotton Bowl in Texas when he opened up for The Who.

Thanks for the post and the acknowledgement.The first time I saw him was at the original Antone's on 6th St.He did not have his own band at that time and was playing with Paul Ray and the Cobras.It was a great show.They let him step up and be frontman to play and sing the old Otis Rush tune,"All Your Love".
