What Is A Postwhore?....Definitions.

Definitions of a “Postwhore” (Please feel free to add your own)


1) Postwhore, or "post whore" is a term used widespread on internet forums to describe a person who measures seniority in a community by one's numerical post count. Used widespread on internet message boards, the conjunction of the two words: "post" & "whore" was established to define what is a postwhore, as we know it.

2) One who goes on a message board and deliberately posts large quantities of posts with minimal meaning whatsoever.

3) One who typically floods a message board with posts in order to gain a higher Post Count and to make themselves known in an environment of 7000 users.

4) One with far too much spare time and typically a person (?) who has trouble reconciling their place in the world with reality.

5) One who posts stupid shit just to be making posts. The Postwhore has no real purpose in posting except to piss people off and look like an idiot.

6) Someone who posts large quantities of posts that usually do not have much meaning. Could be to feel that they have some sort of authority, have no real life besides the message board, or get some special recognition for it. It also could be all three of those or many more reasons.

I'm a member on another NON-Hobby Related board. They have strict rules about post-whores. Needless to say, it's slow board, but very informative

Back on ASPD Truly Summer had a thread about Post Whores. And I post a lot myself, so she kidded me and called me a post whore. Anyway, I love eccie and like to comment and wish other members would get in here a speak up more. Am I a Post Whore? Maybe....

Nicole is a perfect example of someone who always brings substance to a thread with her posts, whether it is informative, inquisitive or humorous. On the other hand I am getting tired of seeing all of the posts that don't say anything, mean anything or add anything to the thread. I don't get it. Please stop. Get a life. Does this bother anybody else? It's stupid shit like this from morons that reminds me of why I got so tired of aspd.

I'll admit to being somewhat guilty of this when I first began posting on ASPD. I did it mostly to get rid of the "newbie" by my name and to be able to select my own avatar. Since that time my posts have been mostly germane, relatively succinct and I think I've only hijacked a couple of threads (but they deserved it).

Looks like the finger has been pointed. That was only a matter of time. I've been annoyed by it since I started coming to this board. Other boards have rules against it because it drives people away, people who actually have substance to share.

I had a gentleman friend who used to call his pecker "the big post," and would ask if I was ready to have it planted deep. If that's the criteria, I'm definitely a "post ho."

Darn it, I was 3 shy of 800 proud posts on the fallen ASPD. Took me 2 & 1/2 years. Alas, with us providers, it isn't always about having anything really important to say, but keeping our names, and avatars, on the front page.
