Default What's wrong with this picture?

This past Thursday I stopped for lunch at a local Italian restaurant, which is neither here nor there. However, as I sat near the rear enjoying my calzone, I watched a group of seven women near the front who were there for lunch as well. I estimate their ages from the early twenties to mid thirties. The reason I was so intrigued with this group was their lack of obeisance to their electronic millstone.....the cell phone.

In the forty-five minutes that I spent there not a one of them called, answered, sent or received a text. I can only imagine that it was some sort of luncheon group that had previously set ground rules forbidding their usage while they were assembled. As I left just to reassure myself I looked over at their tables and all of them had phones on the table in the ready to answer position.

Have I seen a new record set for not using a cellular phone by an assembled group of women or was I dreaming?

Simply something to ponder.

perhaps, the phones were more of a luxury item than tool.
Did they all have similar purses?

Talking Hiya ladies doing? Forget this food, I'm serving man-meat at my place.

Maybe they were getting ready to rob the place. They'll call the get away van when they need to.

I think you were eating in the "Twilight Zone" and it was the 60's.

Clear and simple - they were all losers and the only people that would ever call/text them were sitting at that table!

Maybe, and I know this is a long shot, they had something called manners. When people are at dinner, they're supposed to put their phone on silent (that's a sound setting where the phone doesn't make any noise at all when a call comes in). When you're out with someone, it's because you want to spend time with them. Interrupting that by accepting a phone call sends the message that the person you're with isn't as important as the caller and is just rude. I heard that there were people who had these manners but I thought it was just a myth. Astounding discovery, sir!

Bingo!!! We have a winner.

Although in his defense, I didn't know that there were seven people left in America who had dining manners like that.

That was my thought as well. The mere fact that I actually saw it take place was what shocked me!

What are the chances that you have 7 woman together in one place that know how to put their cellphone on silent? (ok, sorry, but I couldn't resist)
