God I hope not. Would that officially make it a depression? I’m just happy in Texas we are a little bit insulated from the ravages of the economy.
And Doove. Orly Taitz? Please, like I said earlier in the thread. I have my birth certificate. $12, a few mouse clicks and the State of Texas printed it out on a really pretty multi-colored, heavy stock piece of paper. And then……………before they mailed it to me…………..they stamped it with the official State of Texas seal. So, I’m just sayin’…………The best way to shut people up is to shove it down their throat! I’m not saying he’s not a natural born citizen; but I am saying he’s never proved he is. It's kind of a big deal if there is a real question, because it's a really big deal job.

I think it's important to note that not only will the "stimulus" money "run out", it wasn't even effective as an economic tonic in the first place. It was designed by congressional hacks as a political stimulus package, not an economic one. We were told in late 2008/early 2009 that if government didn't step in with massive spending initiatives, the economy would fall into some sort of black hole from which it might not recover. At the same time, our irresponsible media were busy scaring everyone half to death with warnings that we could suffer a Great Depression redux.
But there's one thing the "stimulus package" certainly did stimulate -- the size of our aggregrate debt! For that reason, it is a net negative for the economy.

Sure looks that way!
For some time, I've been advising investors to prepare for the next crisis. Policymakers are doing little more than kicking the can down the road. As if on a wing and a prayer, they'll try to keep the economy on what essentially amounts to a caffeine and sugar high for as long as possible. Note that the Federal Reserve has kept the ZIRP in place for 18 months now, apparently fearing that the economy will roll over when it ends.
One of these days a treasury auction is going to go much worse than expected. When it suddenly sinks in on everybody that the world does not have an unlimited appetite for U.S. Treasury issuance, you could see a panic that makes the 2008 financial near-meltdown pale in comparison.
Then the only alternative will be for the Fed to monetize trillions of dollars of debt. It doesn't take a nuanced understanding of the problem to realize that's not likely to work out very well.
Partisan apologists for the Obama Administration can try to spin this any way they wish, but we are in serious trouble -- and Obama and this congress seem intent on simply digging a deeper hole, just as Jimmy Carter did from early 1977 to August of 1979.

Actually that is why I can see him getting re-elected. I think by 2012 the economy will have the appearance of health...that's what helped WJC...& killed McCain in 08.

I do not see it running out at the end of the year......You don't think Obama's team didn't know what they were doing? Getting re-elected is always a goal to be looked at.

Either you are or you aren't. No fence sitting on this one. If you do any research ( on the Hawaiian birth certificate process)
you will find that he is a citizen. But there are some that think Bush was in on 9/11 and NASA staged the moon walk!

No shit even amongst the Jews there is starting to be a more fair and balanced look at the Palestinian problem. The younger generation is taking a hard look at the folly of the old school ways.
Can't say as I blame them.

Alan Dershowitz is a liberal with whom I rarely agree, but I think he's spot on here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FscSs-_IL0
Remember, too, that he was a Carter supporter!
Also check out the book Palestine, Peace not Apartheid, in which Carter made a number of biased statements. Late last year, he did apologize for some of his bigoted statements.

WTF, you'd better be sure to hold up a mirror when making a statement like that!
Everything I've seen you post suggests that you think everything Democrats do is good and everything Republicans do is bad. Are you blinded by hyper-partisan bias? If not, how in the world can you believe we can digest all this spending and set the stage for recovery anytime soon.
You can't have solid, sustainable economic recovery without sound money. You can't have sound money with the continuing expectation of fiscal deficits approaching 10% of GDP. And you can't have either one as long as there's an expectation that we'll start monetizing large amounts of debt.
Take off the partisan blinders and maybe you'll see the problem!
Wait a minute...didn't you say you supported Ron Paul in the 2008 Republican Primary. Why, yes, I believe you did!
A little confused?
(Nah, couldn't be!)

You hate seeing tax dollars wasted yet you freely give them to Israel. This is not the United States of Israel.

Why don't you pay more attention to what Jimmy Carter actually said, and less to what other biased individuals say?
Carter drew moral equivalence between the IDF, which tries to protect Israeli citizens from slaughter, and Palestinian terrorists who try to kill them with missiles and bombs. It's fair to criticize the Israelis for occasionally heavy-handed tactics, but I think it's simply despicable to draw such moral equivalence.
If you disagree, fine. We'll leave it at that.
By the way, I noticed you didn't spend so much as a keystroke on how you think Obama plans on getting us out of the brewing fiscal crisis. Maybe you're a big fan of the VAT!

Not even close to fence sitting on this one. A negative is a very tricky and hard thing to prove. The easiest way to prove something up is to prove it does exist or did happen. What I said is he hasn’t proven he is. I would produce it in a heart beat. But that’s just me, and it is really irrelevant to the discussion at hand. I only brought it up because someone waaaaay far back in the thread said, and I’m paraphrasing here, that anyone that doesn’t agree with the Obama and Pelosi agenda are birthers.
And no, I don’t think 9/11 was a government plot or the moon shots were faked. But what I do firmly believe is that the current administration and congress are acting in a counterproductive, irresponsible spend fest

Carter started out as a great ex-President. Habitat for Humanity, election monitoring were both fantastic things. Unfortunately he then got too full of himself and started branching out.
