You believe correctly (you may be wrong about the M:F ratio though; ISTR when I was cruising AFF that it seemed it was more like 40-50:1). It doesn't help that AFF and similar sites used to (maybe still do) post ads with hyped come-ons along the lines of "GET LAID TONIGHT!!!" Ain't gonna happen when the odds are that much against you.

I had limited "success" on AFF around 12 years ago or so. Only one woman I hooked up with, and she was in the Norfolk, VA area while I was living in St. Louis. It was as much a love match as it was sex (we were very compatible personally and sexually), and she and I were in a long-distance relationship for a bit over a year. Though I have no doubt we wouldn't have been "together" even that long but for the fact that she was a nurse working part-time, and her supervisors and co-workers found our story so fulfilled their own romantic fantasies ("Linda found True Love on the Internet!!!
