Obstruction is responsible for promises not lived up to. IMO .
You neglected to mention that virtually everything that was obstructed needed to be obstructed!

Just look at what happened in 2009-2010 when there was not so much obstruction. We got a phony $860 billion "stimulus package" which did little to improve prospects for economic growth or to address serious infrastrucure needs of any type. It was nothing more than a collection of payoffs to favored constituencies.

Then we got a botched clusterfuck of a health care "reform" plan crammed through on a party-line vote. In fact, Democrats even had to compromise with themselves to muster enough votes! Now we have an expensive and confusing mess instead of a real reform plan that might have addressed the trajectory of health care cost increases.

In 2010, we got a "feelgood" financial reform plan (Dodd-Frank) which did little to address or mitigate the risks of another financial crisis.

Absent opposition, we would probably have gotten a botched mess of a cap-and-trade disguised middle class tax increase in 2011.

Given all that, I would have been happy to see a little more obstructionism!

In the interest of full disclosure, so did I. (In 1992, I thought he was the only candidate serious about tackling the budget deficit.)

But since the 1980s I have always voted for someone other than a Democrat or a Republican.

You do have to give Perot some credit. As you said, he warned us that deficit spending would destroy us. It took twenty years. Now the wolf is at the door. We should have listened.

It would be kind of fun if Perot would emerge from private life just to say, I told you so!

In all fairness; McCain was a lousy candidate.........so it was easy to get fooled by a supreme hustler.

It's becoming increasingly obvious that deficit spending and the debt are about to destroy us. There should be a "Don't blame me. I voted for Perot" bumper sticker!

I think more and more Perot voters will be starting to admit their support, because of the current debt nightmare.

Nice try.

You completely ignore the first two years of the Obama Administration, when the Democrats held both houses of Congress.

In order to make your case, you need to explain why Obama didn't do squat when he had the chance, when the Republicans COULDN'T STOP HIM.

I don't think there has been any sleeping ... Just the pills.
So, you're telling me you didn't vote for Obama or McCain, you voted against Palin and for Joe Biden.

For you, there wasn't enough difference between Obama and McCain to make that decision anything more than a coin toss.

Is that what you're telling us?

Don't forget Harry Reid. How many bills have passed the House but died in the Senate...excuse me, Harry Reid's trash can. On the other hand, what has the Senate even tried to do lately?

Nope. I'm saying that I respected McCain and his service to our country.
Certified war hero, seemingly honest. Also got a good vibe from him.......
Until Palin ... That bitch was scary. She an she alone swayed my vote.
How you feel about Obama is how I felt about her.

I feel Obama could have lived up to more promises
Had there been more cooperation and BIPARTISAN
negotiation. The republicans have shown an ugly side and
Have taken a direction I'm not pleased with. The last time I voted republican
Was for Bush sr. The only term. Since then I
Haven't been thoroughly impressed with any candidate produced by the GOP .
These days they are less than the "GRAND old PARTY".
My fiscal views are not radical, just conservative.
My social views are largely liberal ......
I'm a dem that believes in the death penalty , unregistered firearms,
Carpet bombing Syria and I despise china .

I believe. There are a lot of folks out there just like me.

I have a friend that voted for Oflimsy. He wants to give me lectures on how I should be voting for Ron Paul. I do not have the heart to tell him he's not even running.

+1 I thought McCain's campaign move to get a game changer such as Palin was what put the nail in the coffin.
