My thoughts exactly. Perhaps they were ashamed to post out in the open......

It wasn't shame. It was just poorly chosen "private" communication.

Default il-literacy

I have been a long-time lurker here and was on ASPD in the days of old. The illiteracy problem in this country was kept in the closet for a long time but with advances in technology and social media, made ubiquitous by mobile devices, it is out of the closet, and it ain't pretty.
Practitioners of mangled written language don't really care what you or I think. The anonymity of the internet reduces peer pressure and conformity to nil. Texting shorthand in emails, texting shorthand in forum posts etc. is the new norm. Auto-correction algorithms are the new mediators on questions regarding spelling and grammar. Wrongly auto-corrected words are now known as Cupertinos.
The upside to this is the ability to gauge the IQ level, attention to detail, and general reliability of the person you are communicating with

I dont think it has to be that serious...

does there always have to be some alterior motive?

The provider's just responding to the ISO, although its preferred to PM.

Right, EW. You were a champion for decency long before the community knew how badly it needed you. But even those other places suffer from an invasion of common coarseness that dilutes the real joy and integrity of philosophical discourse.

Throughout history, communities where "anything goes" became the norm are most commonly remembered as "former" communities.

As always, sing that melody Angie. EW is adding the harmony.

I'm fascinated by the controversy my Incall Provider Short Notice Availability thread has created. I started it because I identified a need. It has proven insanely popular because it apparently meets that need. It's all in one thread so you can easily find it, and just as easily avoid it.

I've made several new friends thanks to that thread. I've also heard from several literate providers who expressed appreciation, having been able to meet that month's rent in part because of it.

I personally think there are more important things to worry about than what goes on in the ISO forum, but that's just one man's opinion.
