Yesterday was a momentous day for hundreds of thousands of young aspiring citizens across the country.
After years of congressional inaction on comprehensive immigration reform, a courageous group of American youth—also known as DREAMers—launched a successful campaign to urge President Obama to end his silence on the issue and take action by issuing a policy to temporarily halt the deportation of DREAMers for two years.
Although not a road map to citizenship, President Obama’s decision gives DREAMers real hope that they can one day be citizens of the country they have called home since childhood.
