Police: Employee Kidnapped, Threatened Manager

Posted: 5:45 pm EDT May 14, 2010Updated: 8:33 pm EDT May 14, 2010
ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- A former IHOP restaurant employee is accused of kidnapping his manager and threatening him with a machete, investigators said.
Police told Channel 2 Action News reporter Tom Regan that the worker lost his job Wednesday and was demanding it back, along with $250,000.
Officers arrested [DELETED], 36, on Lockeway Drive in Alpharetta Friday.
The 61-year-old victim, identified as an executive with Southern Restaurant Management, was forced to the ground Thursday at his corporate office, taken to the parking lot and then kidnapped, investigators said. Police said {SUSPECT} also stole the victim’s car.
"It's scary to know that it happened so close," said Laurie McCord who works nearby.
"He had a paper sack, alleged he had a gun in the sack. Ordered the manager on the floor and threatened to kill him. He wanted his job back," said Capt. Frank Huggins with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.
“The manager drove a short distance. … Somewhere along the way, he threw the sack out,” said Huggins.
Authorities said they believe the manager convinced {SUSPECT} to let him go on a promise he'd be rehired.
Officers staked out the office and when {SUSPECT} came back Friday morning, they nabbed him.
{SUSPECT} was in the Forsyth County Jail facing a multitude of charges, including kidnapping armed robbery and aggravated assault.
Authorities haven't yet released the name of the executive who was kidnapped, but they told Regan that the victim was unharmed.

Admittedly, IHOP isn't traditional D&T fare and this is probably the only time it will be mentioned in the same sentence as Fearing's...

....but fellas the lesson here is if you employ a bunch of people...some of them will be nutz....

As an aside I really enjoy lazy Weekends when I get a chance to catch up on my newspapers (all online these days)...There is some f'd up shit going on out there....

For those of you who might be interested in a one-stop shopping of internet news, you might try this site early in the AM:

http://www.govexec.com/dailyfed/ebird.htm

It might be a little to the left of your normal orientation, and is definitely geared to government execs, but that is who publishes it.

If you want "one stop shopping" with a leftward bent, why not just try Pravda or the NYT for that matter.

NYT is there...you just didn't look. Because it's government centered, they don't do much with foreign news.

Of course he didn't look Charles. You gave him enough for his smug one-liner w/o actually going to your leftist link. On that note I applaud you for good staff work.

Moral of the story (left or right leaning) is: DON'T GO TO IHOP! Ya don't need a cyrstal ball for this stuff.

It's been about 35 years since I set foot in one.

Actually, the thing that bothers me about that link is not the leftward slant -- I pretty much expected that. No what bothers me is that this government is so fucking big and wasteful that it publishes its own damn newspaper.

Here's a source I use....don't let the name deceive you.

The page author has an automotive background, but the articles on this page come from all over the world.
