Do i wish he would have re-phrased that one sentence? Sure.

But what i really wish is that we lived in a world where a President, any President, could speak without having to worry about every sentence they say being nit-picked and twisted into something they very clearly didn't mean.

And then we wonder why they come across as so plastic and managed, and use teleprompters.

Why do you regret that he said that "one sentence", Doofie? Was it because you think he was wrong? Or made a mistake? Or that he went "off prompter" and we found out what he truly thinks?

I'm guessing that once he got off his pre-reviewed remarks prepared for him by others, we got to see the real Obama.

I regret the way he phrased his point. No more/no less. Learn to read Mr. "if a person got ahead in life, that person owes a portion of his/her wealth to others who did not take the risk".

Funny, i would think the people like you and Olivia, who claim to be put off by the extremes on both sides, would agree with my point about a President (or any politician, really) not being able to speak without the threat of one measly off the cuff sentence in the middle of a lengthy speech being used in this way.

People like Olivia can claim to be above it all as much as she wants. She's not.

Obama made these comments for one reason. He thinks the so called rich don't pay enough taxes. He wants to justifiy taking more from the most productive members of society. The truth is, the most productive members of society are already paying more than their fair share of the income tax.

The top 1% pay 36.73%. The top 5% pay 58.66%. The top 10% pay 70.47%. The bottom 50% pay 2.25%. Half of the country pays almost nothing, and Obama wants them to think, they're the ones being cheated. Obama relies on the average voter, not knowing or caring, that the rich are already paying the lion's share of the income tax.

Doofie, are you saying that we should ignore what Obama said because he deviated from his prepared, managed remarks? Actually, I think it is good when politicians of any ideology get away from the remarks prepared for them by their handlers. This way we get to see who they are. It would be refreshing if more of them had unfiltered moments of honesty. We might make better choices.

No more so than we should ignore your socialist rant - which, interestingly enough, seems to agree with what you wanna say Obama said.

"if a person got ahead in life, that person owes a portion of his/her wealth to others who did not take the risk".

What an amazing conclusion, to say that we should only give weight to the words written by someone else, the words on the teleprompter, is absurd. Obviously, when Obama speaks without notes, or teleprompter, he is more likely to tell you what he really thinks. The times when Obama is most likely to reveal his socialist nature is when he speaks casually.

When Obama spoke to a small group in San Francisco, off teleprompter, he expressed his contempt for common people, that cling to their guns and religion. When Obama spoke to Joe the plumber, he said he wanted to spread the wealth around. It's only when Obama let's guard down, that we get a glimpse of who he really is, a socialist.

This is a perfect case of "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain."

And when COG lets his guard down, we see that he's a socialist of the highest order. Right COG?

Nice job of avoiding substance, Doofie. The thing is, you are stupid enough to think that you are making a point, when in reality, you are only showing yourself to be a robotic fool for the left. But as long as you're happy, go ahead.

You got beat up a lot as a kid, didn't you, Doofie? Did you ever get to eat your own lunch, or did the big boys take that, too?

Why would you ask that?

Because, as a 40-something i now resort to posting childish, anonymous insults on a message board?

Oh wait...

Hmmm . . . Childhood trauma is very difficult to overcome, keep up the good work, Doofie. We all understand now.

Given that the alternative explanation for your level of Obama hatred is that you're as big an idiot as COG, JD Barleycorn, and joe bloe, you should look at my comments to you as a show of respect.
Um, Ok. Whatever you say. You are such an automaton. You'll believe anyone who tells you want you want to hear. Personally, this is why I don't like Obama because he's a smug, racists, resting on his imagined laurels, inexperienced ass that is unwilling to learn from his mistakes and other experiences.

He meant what he said. I, unlike you, can see that. Argue away with yourself. I have better things to do than debate the Anti-American, hippie lovin' philosophies of the above defined ass. Peace out.
