If Nixon had been covering up something as serious as Fast and Furious, his own party would have forced out him quicker than they did.
Remember the sequence of events with the Watergate coverup. The Watergate story began during Nixon's campaign against McGovern, which resulted in a landslide victory for Nixon. It wasn't until after the election that Nixon really got into hot water. Nixon won re-election by winning 49 out of 50 states and was forced to resign seventeen months later.
Obama certainly has the ability to delay resolution of the Fast and Furious scandal until after the election, with legal maneuvering and obstruction. But he can't stall forever.
If Obama is re-elected, (God forbid) and the Republicans take both houses. Impeachment in Obama's second term seems likely. Obama is clearly corrupt and has no respect for the Constitution. I don't believe he can continue to govern outside the law with a disintegrating economy and a Republican Congress. The only thing that protected Clinton from being removed from office was a strong economy. Obama will be presiding over a nightmare economy in his (God forbid) second term.
If there's any justice, Obama will end up in a federal prison or deported back to his home country, wherever that might be. Maybe Pakistan will grant him asylum.
