Phone Death =O

I dropped my phone battery in my coffee this morning. So awesome....

The local store doesnt sell my brand of cheap hobby phone anymore so it might take me a moment to find a replacement battery, if not just a whole new phone/number. Just FYI, email will have to do for now and I hope I can get a hold of a few of you before our dates!

I'm sure you've checked all resources, but check someplace like Batteries Plus or those types of battery stores. In this age of mobility and technology, they've got practically everything.

You could also check on eBay. They seem to have almost everything else.

Never heard of dipping batteries in coffee. I'm surprised if it won't work still after it dries out.

It may have sat in the coffee for an extended period of time... I may have not realized it was there... hehe. It was one of those days.

But thanks to the batteries plus and the Wizard, all is now in working order. Same number!

I buy all of my batteries on eBay. I am kind of obsessive about always having a spare battery because I use my phone constantly and I swap batteries a couple of times a day. I keep them stashed everywhere, my car, my office, my workout bag, my laptop case.

For most phones, you can buy knockoffs from Asia for a couple of bucks on eBay. I just bought three batteries plus a wall charger for $19 including shipping from Hong Kong.

You do take a bit of a risk when you order knockoffs. Some of them don't hold a charge very well. I bought one batch for my previous phone and it turned out that the phone software didn't recognize the batteries properly since they were made for the Asian model. The phone ran fine, but the batteries would not charge in the phone -- I had to use the external wall charger.

Still, when you are buying 6-8 batteries, it is nice to get them for $7 instead of $30-40 for the official ones.

Try Radio Shack!. When I got one phone wet and it wouldn't work I bought a new phone on sale with enough free minutes to make it cheaper than just buying minutes for the old phone. The old chip came out (slides right out with the thumb) and went into the new phone. I saved the chip from the new phone, if I ever want to register the new chip and new phone. These things run a lot per minute, but a lot cheaper for a second phone with not much use.
