Now that is a cool idea. I don't have loupe, but I have a pair of binoculars and a wonderful view. I'll have to play around tomorrow. The neighbors are going to think that I am really .

SleepMachine, they have great sounds to fall asleep to and to wake up by. For my alarm I use the laughing child sound. With the sound of a child laughing, there is no way you will get out of bed in a bad mood.

Ansley,

Hadn't thought about using binoculars as a "zoom lens", but it's a great extension of the idea of the jewelers loupe. I think I'll play with it, might even try with my inexpensive compact Canon camera.

The loupe is good for many other things as well. You don't have to hold it, so it is excellent for removing splinters.

Bump-Love this for sharing info quickly.

Weatherbug: What is weather in various towns, great travel planner.

Lose It: Tracks calories, carbs, etc. Great for helping to track eating and exercise.

All these are free apps.

Lauren--
Several fine aps I like here, especially Bump for trading contact info.

But two favorites of mine which are pretty amazing are food related:
Grocery Gadget-- you create a grocery list and go to the store and enter prices so it gives you an ide of what you're spending. It's been updated to read bar codes. And the kicker is it remembers the sequence of what you bought and will sort the next grocery list in the order you go through the aisles.

Urban Spoon-- sorts restaurants wherever you are, by name, price and genre. So if you're looking for Mexican in Calgary--well, who would? Anyway, you get the idea. It has a shake feature to, to spin the categories.

Bon Apetit!

Does anybody have thoughts on PIMs? I'm a convert from Palm and am going through withdrawal. The iPhone doesn't seem to be well integrated. I'm trying out Pocket Informant and SaiSuke. Any others?

Anything with a SIM card. Then transfer to a new phone is painless.

Well the typical features I'm looking for in a PIM are already all there - notes, address/phone book, birthdays/anniversaries, calendaring. I'm not sure how much more integrated it can get - everything is modal for the task you are doing, and it all links to the same data from where I might need it, e.g. the dialer and email from address book data.

And it all syncs to my Mac's integrated apps that come with it.

I used to have a Palm Treo, and it seemed liked a huge improvement to me.

What's really missing in your user experience?

Cool, I had been using "Shopper" for keep my grocery lists. It's got some rough edges in the UI for things like prices. I'll have to try this one.
