Default BASEBALL FANS: ENFORCE RULE 8.04 !

Thanks to Robbie Griffin (at SBnation.com)......

THE major complaint in the MLB is that the game moves too slowly; mostly due to time between pitches.

It seems the MLB has rule 8.04 which is never enforced.......

"When the bases are unoccupied, the pitcher shall deliver the ball to the batter within 12 seconds after he receives the ball. Each time the pitcher delays the game by violating this rule, the umpire shall call Ball. The 12-second timing starts when the pitcher is in possession of the ball and the batter is in the box, alert to the pitcher. The timing stops when the pitcher releases the ball.

The intent of this rule is to avoid unnecessary delays. The umpire shall insist that the catcher return the ball promptly to the pitcher, and that the pitcher take his position on the rubber promptly. Obvious delay by the pitcher should instantly be penalized by the umpire."

Yeah, they don't do that enough. I think 12 seconds might be a little quick, but some pitchers take forever.

The big crime, however, is the designated hitter rule. That monstrosity should be repealed. It forever changed the game in the American League, and not for the better.

I don't know why managers are allowed to leave the dugout to argue a call. I have never seen an umpire reverse a call after a manager has yelled at, cursed at, and spit all over him. Add up how much time is wasted on this every season and it would be significant.

I like the designated hitter rule. But it definetly changed the strategy of b-ball......

It is amazing the difference in game mangement between the NL and the AL; all because of the designated hitter rule.

The 2 approaches to the game (because of the DH); made for a great matchup between St. Louis and Texas imo.

I like that MLB has the purity of the NL; contrasted against the AL with a DH rule.

Hey if they speed it up that will cut into my binocular time for the baseball babes in the stands.

Hey, if the umpires would enforce the strike zone that would make it a lot more interesting.

How would Milo be able to tell a story in a whole inning if they sped it up.

It takes me a long time to nurse a ten dollar beer.

I want to get my moneys worth out of my 20 buck parking spot.

Its not just the pitchers ... its the batters that have to step out of the box after every pitch to adjust gloves, cup, body armor, etc.

baseball "fans" know it is a big part of the game

baseball would be "less",without the antics
made famous by the likes of Earl Weaver and Billy Martin.
funniest stuff that I ever saw!

the arguments are not made to get a call reversed.
the arguments are made to put the Ump on notice,
that he has his head up his ass,or that he needs to
put on his friggin glasses.
the Umps are good,not perfect.

baseball does not need speeding up.
it may seem to need it,by football and basketball "fans",
who are treated to "thug-a-minute" cheapshots and
poor sportsmanship

I don't like football or basketball,but I don't try to get
it changed or bitch about it.....I just don't watch it

AND DITTO on the DH was inspired by Satan

I guess this must be the reason the Royals are such sad sacks! Yes managers do give the base coaches signals....but those managers are part of the opposing team and those signs pertain to baserunning situations. Giving your opponent the pitch takes the fun out of stealing signs
