Prostitution is legal in much of Colombia inside “tolerance zones” controlled by police. The going rate for hookers in Cartagena is around $47, according to Colombian TV.
The trouble began for the Secret Service after the agents’ night of carousing, when a hotel employee noticed a hooker’s ID was still at the front desk at 7 a.m., in violation of hotel policy on overnight guests, King said.
The manager went to the agent’s room where the woman had spent the night and saw the two inside arguing, King said.
“She said the agent owed her money,” King said. “He said he didn’t have to pay her.”
He eventually forked over the money and the situation was resolved. But the cops were called and they filed a report, which was sent to the US Embassy.

Or it could be blatant attempt to detract from the bashing Obama got over our failed "war on "the umentionable"", they were all ganging up on him pretty bad, poor fella. I think the South Americans are pretty tired of the shit we keep handing them and ensuring the Latinos suffer in their homeland, and not on ours.

It is one thing to partake in local entertainment. It is entirely different situation when hiring an escort results in official police report and complaint filed with US embassy. And to have very public dispute in hotel lobby arguing over extra charges for the room ... that is taking it to yet next level of being morons.
I can only imagine how much fun was had by local cops when they knocked on US Embassy's doors and said "excuse us sirs, but some of your agents skipped on hooker bill".
Its obvious that the morons involved are not used to be accountable for their actions. I guess they are more familiar with hobbying in USA where flashing Secret Service ID will get them out of paying their tab. Who in their right mind will mess with them here where prostitution is illegal? However, in Columbia apparently girls could not care less if the guy who is refusing to pay them happens to be Secret Service agent or manhole covers salesman.
I wonder if these guys got together for breakfast day before and brainstormed ideas on "How Can I Fuck Up My Life For Sure" and then one of them had idea of hiring local escort, not paying her and then having public dispute in hotel lobby.

No doubt the Secret Service agent involved was using a government credit card to cover the expense of the room. When confronted with the additional charge for an inexplicable ‘overnight guest’ which would show up on his government credit card receipt, he probably balked. The agent put himself in a bind that only the quick and smart use of sufficient cash could cure; it seems he failed.

Which opens a whole new can of worms. Government employee traveling on tax payers dime entertaining escort in his tax payer funded hotel room after researching local market on tax payer provided laptop and contacting her via government issued cell phone.
Even if he paid cash for actual sex ... FIRED.

Whoa, that's much to harsh. They had to fly anyway and I'm sure they put in their 8 hours a day. Nothing wrong with a little cuervo and some pussy at night. You don't need a laptop or a cell phone in Columbia, prostitution is legal and Americans are the honey to the bees, they find you. Are you sure you want to be a provider?

Lina, it happens all of the time. Ladies in your profession benefit from government agents and personnel being sent away from home all of the time. Fundamentally, such behavior is against regulations and can - and often does - lead to dismissal. The individuals involved were going to be charged for the rooms whether they were alone or with company; however, it would be a criminal offense to use the government credit card for 'hobbying' expenses, e.g., using it to cover the expenses of having a room guest over night. BTW, you don't need a computer to research the local market in Colombia. One needn't go farther than the hotel lounge to scope out the talent, and bar tenders, taxi drivers, etc., are always ready to help.

I just read a book on the Secret Service. Their work load is overwhelming and their thanks are few. It is voluntary but there has to be a limit. After 911 their work load got larger and their numbers have been cut in the last few years. Their protection person many times are ungrateful and don't do very much to make their lives easier. When on duty they face 21 hour days or longer depending on when their subject gets around. The agent who contributed to the book says that not seeing their families for over a week was not unusual even if they lived in the same state. The book is "In the President's Secret Service: Behind the scenes..." by Ronald Kessler.
I notice that Hillary is having a pretty good time as well. I suppose she has someone to leave the money on the dresser. http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Governm...rties-Colombia

Well, it's worse than we thought. Check out my thread on "we used to command respect".
I suspect the MSNBC spin team is working on this right now.

No, this is hot harsh at all and has absolutely nothing with MY line of work.
Every Jan - April most accountants bitch about their hours like there is no tomorrow. They cry "poor me I work 20 hours a day during tax season". Well, my answer to them is always the same "did it JUST occurred to you that you may be super busy during tax season or did you have some inkling of it while you were still in school?"
Point is, we all CHOOSE the professions we have and as we make those choices we agree to accept certain hardships/ responsibility in exchange for social and / or monetary compensation.
If you choose to be part of Secret Service, you have to accept the fact that you may be held to a higher standard of accountability. Any indiscretion you commit will be subject to much higher scrutiny than if you were a computer company executive.
Like i said before, is it FAIR? Most likely not. I am a professional companion. Working in this field has been my choice. However, I fully comprehend that due to my choices I will never run for public office or apply for government job. This is a choice I have made and i have to live with the consequences.
Same goes for these agents. they have made a choice to serve their country. It means they assumed a responsibility not to fund their personal entertainment with our money, they decided to dedicate their lives to safety of our country and not make US of A laughing stock of entire world.
As we said in the old country, you can't catch a fish and keep your dick dry. Sooner or later you have to get into the water. These guys threw away their careers and turned somewhat important international summit into "the year when Secret Service agents got kicked out of the country for not paying a hooker" event.
Yes, they had to fly anyway. Yet, I would prefer that people whose salary is paid by me fly to Colombia on their own dime. I would also prefer that their room where they get laid is paid for by them and not me. And no, when you are sent to Latin America to arrange the President's security, there is no such thing as 8 hour day. This would not turn into such a circus if title of the article read "12 secret service agents went on VACATION to Columbia". No, they were there on somewhat important mission and every minute of their time there is paid for by taxpayers.
As for my comments about laptop etc - I was being sarcastic.
Like I said, at some point in life a person has to make a choice and be accountable for their actions.
My sentiments about this incident have nothing to do with my job, they are sentiments of american citizen that is embarrassed by actions of few.
