My dad actually worked at TI for a while and EVERYBODY got a digital watch for Christmas that year.!

Would like to add a few...
Jefferson Airplane who then became Jefferson Starship!
Dark Shadows/ Barnabas Collins!
The flying Nun
The Carol Burnett Show
Laugh In

There's so much more I could take all day!

Thank you for the memories!

Jynx would have been perfect for that TV show where you had to know the lyrics of songs.

Must not forget...

No fatal STDs
No toxic additives/dilutives to things we aren't allowed to talk about here
No ATMs – you had to stand in line at the bank to get cash
No Internet - you had to get your porn at the seedy magazine shops or via unmarked mail
Drinking age was 18 – high school kids were legal before they graduated
Everybody littered along the roadways – the Interstates were a mess
Hitchhiking hippies – they were all over the highways in the summer
The moderates ruled – not the 1% nor the fringe idiot causes of either party
Movie theaters had one screen and you lined up for tickets and movies outside
Women didn't shave down below
Lite beer was what you pissed into the urinal
...end of part I

This thread reminds me of the Statler Brothers song "Do You Remember These"....a bit older than the memories above, but interesting nevertheless!

Saturday morning serials chapters 1 through 15,
Fly paper, penny loafers, Lucky Strike Green.
Flat tops, sock hops, Studebaker, Pepsi Please,
Ahh, do you remember these?

Cigar Bands, on your hand, your daddy's socks rolled down.
Sticks, snow floats and aviator caps with flaps that button down.
Movie stars on Dixie Cup tops, and knickers to your knees,
Ahh, do you remember these?

The Hit Parade, grape Tru-Aid, The Sadie Hawkins Dance,
Pedal pushers, duck tail hair and peggin' your pants.
Howdie-Doodie, Tutti-Frutti, the seam up the back of her hose,
Ahh, do you remember those?

James Dean, he was keen, Sunday movies were taboo,
The Senior Prom, Judy's mom, Rock-n-Roll was new.
Cracker Jack prize, stars in your eyes, as Daddy tore the keys,
Ahh, do you remember these?

The boogey man, lemonade stands, takin' your tonsils out,
Hindenburg, -n- wait your turn, and 4 foul balls you're out.
Cigarette loads, -n- secret codes, -n- savin' lucky stars,
Can you remember back that far?

The boat neck shirts, and fender skirts and crinoline petticoats,
Mum's the word, and a dirty bird and a double root beer float.
Moon hub caps, and loud heel taps, and he's a real gone cat.
Ahh, do you remember that?

Dancin' close, little moron jokes, and cooties in her hair,
Captain Midnight, Ovaltine, and The Whip at the County Fair.
Charles Atlas Course, Roy Roger's Horse, and "only The Shadow knows"
Ahh, do you remember those?

Gable's charm, Frog in your arm, loud mufflers, pitchin' woo,
Going steady, Veronica and Betty, white bucks, and "Blue Suede Shoes"
Knock Knock jokes, and "Who's there?", Dewey, Dewey who?;
Do we, do we remember these? Yes, we do, Ahh do we do we remember these?

Apollo XI

Every science-fiction writer on the planet knew that Man would land on the Moon, eventually. We didn't know exactly when.

NOT ONE of them thought we would send back live television images.

"The Empire Strikes Back!" holds a special place in my erotic memory.

My very first date was at the local theater for the premiere of the "Star Wars" 1980 sequel, my very first kiss (yes, I was 21, a late bloomer who's been making up for lost time ever since) about the moment Yoda dropped Luke Skywalker's butt into the swamp, and I totally lost track of the plot after that. Became a make-out session and we were asked to "cool off or take it elsewhere, kids," by an usher. We just found a back corner and continued swapping gum. I had to go to the same movie again the next day to actually WATCH it.

Every time I hear the theme music I smile a bit wistfully at the memory of a blue-eyed, blond-haired boy I met at the local roller rink who went into the Navy two weeks after he torpedoed a redheaded college coed's virginity on the sea-colored couch in his living room. Broke my heart, but he had enlisted before he met me. Those long-distance things never work out, and we lost touch. Such a cutie - I bet he sailed 'round the world and had a girl in every port....literally.
