However, they occasionally get factory-refurbished gear, and the deals on that can be quite good. Several years ago, I got a refurb Canon Elan IIE, with the 35-80mm zoom lens, for less than what the Rebel 2000 would have cost me new. I was VERY happy with it, and still have it, but I have since dragged myself kicking and screaming into the digital age with a Nikon D80. (I very carefully considered, and eventually ruled out, the comparable Canon digital SLRs. Long story why, but PART of it was a friend's experience with the Digital Rebel.)

Always be sure to print off an ad from an internet dealer and take it with you to any brick and mortar retailer you might visit. Ask to see the gear you're interested in, and then present the ad and ask very simply, "Can you match it?" If the ad is from a reputable internet dealer (and the retailers know the reputable ones from a fly by night con that may have posted a bogus price to lure you in), you've got a fair chance of them saying yes. Most retailers realize these days that they have to compete with remote retailers who work worldwide off the internet. Or at least that they have to compete for the informed consumer, who will be buying new lenses and accessories for a very long time after the initial purchase. But you have to present the price to them, first. The uninformed who don't check on the internet still pay full price.

Never tried that with Wolfe, but it's worked for me every time at a couple of other non-chain retailers. PM me if you want more information. I could, of course, just buy the gear off the 'net, but I still like the idea of walking into a store and walking out with what I want right then and there.

Been happy with FW Camera and the Nikon setup I bought there a few years ago. At the time, their price compared to any other brick & mortar places and the internet, but they threw in a free class on how to use all the dang features on these technical marvels. I am a firm believer in interchangeable lenses and the ability to choose to handle any functions manually, especially focus.

As far as the pixels & quality, etc., I was amazed at the amount of enlargement I did on a picture I took from ground of a place in flight to make at details. And of course, new cameras will have much better pixel quality.

I have a Canon ef70-200mm with image stabilizer that is absolutely mint if anyone is interested PM me... Purchased new in 2005... Again mint perfect condition with lens case, lens hood... Thanks...

I like canon mainly because I am able to swap item with other coworkers when I need a good prime lens for a wedding. But nikon just realesed a bad ass dslr which would make me thing twice if I did already have canon.

I would recommend rent one or two brands from arlington camera or wolf see what you like. Then decide if you wantjust want something better then a point and shoot go with a entry level t3i enough to get you started, if your look to take some really cool stuff maybe look in to get a 70d, great for sports and stuff with action. Really want to move up since the release of the new 5d you might get a mark II kit set 2700-2900 if you buy at the right time. But most avearge people dont need a full frame camera unless they are artist, work related or just need the best. I get but with a 2ti with a prime and a 5d II 24-105.

Henrys camera in canda good place to find a deal shiping is the same as buying inthe states. Price usally cheaper , there is a tax its not a duty tax but pretty much same thing between 20.00 and 40.00 dollars.

I bought a Canon T2I off Craigslist, obviously you need to be smart and meet in a public place. Test the camera etc, but I got a camera for half the price and no problems. I wanted something decent to see if I wanted to get serious about it. I use it for vacations and it's great. I haven't bought anything more then the kit lens that came with it, but couldn't be happier with the results. I'm not a pro by any means, but CL seems like a good way to get your feet wet into photography without spending a crazy amount of money for something you may not use very much.
