Guess robbie missed the part about classy fans when he brought up ku. I caught the first part of the Duke game yesterday and just by the way that the two teams were playing I could tell that Duke was going to lose that game. As for Mizzou atleast we won the Big 12 title.

Thought KU won the Big 12 title and MU won the post season tournament.

Gee, and didn't Duke seated second also lose to a 15th the same day? Typical ku fan response. Shall we go down the lists of ku flops in the tourney? Because there are many if you wanna go down that road.

I hear ya Robbie. Wish we could go back to the old Big 8 days. That was a very fun league to be a part of. The Big 12 is still in jeopardy, don't be fooled. And if ku gets an invite from like the ACC (which would be perfect for them) I hope you guys jump all over it. ku needs to do what is best for them and getting out of a Texas dominated league would be a wise choice.

I know this has been the argument that MU has been making leaving the conference, but it appears that it may no longer hold water.
The Big 12 is negotiating a new media rights deal with ABC/ESPN and Fox that would be worth at least $2.6 billion or $20 million annually per school, television industry sources told CBSSports.com's Dennis Dodd and Brett McMurphy.
The Big 12’s current deal with ESPN/ABC doesn’t expire until 2016, but the conference and networks have been negotiating what is being termed an extension. The 13-year deal worth is expected to be worth at least $200 million annually through 2025. The deal is expected to "sync up" with a $1.2 billion, 13-year deal signed with Fox in April. That would mean the ABC/ESPN extension would be worth approximately $1.4 billion.

MU leaving the conference has really worked out well for KU because unlike before, they'll now receive an equal share of any first and second tier revenues generated by the Big 12. KU also currently receives a nice chunk of third tier revenue that is currently generated by the Jayhawk Network that they'll still be able to keep all to themselves.

For myself, the best part of MU losing to Norfolk State is that this will probably quiet the tiger fans that like to throw KU's early tournament exits in their face. I would imagine this would be hard for them to continue to do since they are now the first number 2 seed lose to a 15 seed in 11 years.

That's all well and good Robbie about new tv contracts, IF Texas decides to stay, and IF they can contain their bullying ways. They are the big fish in a small pond, and history shows they will flex their muscle anytime they choose. If the LHN goes down, and it certainely seems that way, as it's really struggling, that removes the barrier for them to go to another conference, or go indy. I'm amazed that whats left of the old Big 8 teams refuse to understand and acknowledge this.
Nebraska, Colorado, Mizzou, and even T A@M seen the writing on the wall. The only difference is, they had OPTIONS. Now you can sit there and say the 3 above Big 8 teams flirted with other conferences before, but you would be missing my point about options. Go to any Arkansas message board for shits and grins and ask them what they think of the Longhorns, afterall they were in the SWC with them. See what their answers are.
The Longhorns are big, rich, and powerful enough to dictate on their terms how things will go in a conference, instead of looking out for one another. Afterall, that's suppose to be what a conference is for. Maybe Texas ate some humble pie after the recent defections and decides to play nice and fair. Time will tell..
"I would imagine this would be hard for them to continue to do since they are now the first number 2 seed lose to a 15 seed in 11 years."
Again, you are also wrong. Duke lost to Leigh the same day Mizzou did. Doesn't make the loss easier to take, but that is the fact. I would of never mentioned ku's early exits either if another ku fan wouldn't of spouted off once again about our "flop".

What was I wrong about exactly? Missouri was only the fifth number 2 seed to lose to a 15 seed. Here it is from a Columbia sports writer.
http://www.columbiatribune.com/news/...-just-a-wreck/
The Tigers did what only four other No. 2 seeds in the NCAA Tournament had ever done before yesterday. Against all odds, they lost to a No. 15 seed.
Norfolk State beat Missouri 86-84 in what will be celebrated in 49 states as the one of the great moments in NCAA Tournament history. In Missouri, it will be remembered as the worst — and that's saying something.
This season, despite 30 victories and a Big 12 Tournament championship, will be marginalized by the stunning end. Maybe that's not fair, but that's reality.
Eleven years later, people still remember that Hampton beat Iowa State.
And as far as the TV contract, there is a long term deal being negotiated which will make the Big 12 additionally stable. CBS is not the only source reporting it, I'm not wrong about that either.

This is where you are wrong:
""I would imagine this would be hard for them to continue to do since they are now the first number 2 seed lose to a 15 seed in 11 years."
Knowing full well that hours later a number 2 seed Duke lost to 15 seed Lehigh. Playing in Semantic Land are ya? I also seen what ya did too by revising your original stance that I quoted by saying this: "Missouri was only the fifth number 2 seed to lose to a 15 seed. Here it is from a Columbia sports writer." Again, never acknowledging the fact the same fate happened to Duke the SAME DAY.
Bro, I'm not trying to soften the loss that happened to Mizzou. It was inexcusable and embarrassing, but let's show some fairness and perspective here. Your'e better than that Robbie.
I don't doubt that an ongoing tv contract is being negotiated. I hope the remaining teams in the Big 12 hold Texas' feet to the fire on a long extension. Texas is a fickle partner that's not trustworthy. If things aren't going the way Texas feels it should, they will look elsewhere without a care about the Big 12 teams. Their recent history and SWC history proves that. I'm glad we are out of that dysfunctional conference. Not because of ku, but because of almost the entire south division almost bailed on us (the North) when they seriously negotiated with the Pac. And who led that? Texas of course. Remember, Texas is rich and powerful, and exit fees virtually means nothing to them. 2025 would be a good long term extension to keep them around. For how long is anyones guess.
