From the Department of Irony
Isn't It Ironic Department:
The Food Stamp Program (Dept of Agriculture) is distributing more stamps than ever.
And yet, the Park Service, also part of the Dept of Agriculture, asks us "please do not feed the animals" because the animals may grow dependent and not learn to take care of themselves.

True, but animals have natural places to find food. So should we cut off all the food stamp programs and just tell people to grow there own?
Give a man to fish, and you will feed him for a day. Teach him to fish, you will feed him for life. But if the ponds are dried up or overfished by greedy fishers, what would your next suggestion be?
Of course, letting them starve would be an option. But most Americans don't what the people begging on the streets and would not like the kind of social unrest that taking all the government "handouts" away would cause.
Yes, there are people dependent on the government. Like grandmothers and fathers, Military Vets, abused women and childern. Who would you like to cut off first? This is why neither the GOP or the Dems are going to cut (much) into entitlement programs, yet both promise (or wish) to solve the so called debt crisis.

My bullshit tolerance is low today. Everyone knows, or should know, that these welfare schemes were put in place to control certain parts of the population, because the government knows that a dependent people are a cooperative people, as well as a source of votes for the ruling class. It's incumbent insurance. No one would let a fellow human being starve if it was in their power to prevent it. We used to work together as communities. We knew each other. Now, we can live 10 years next to the same person, and never know who they are. We are too busy with our television and sporting events to take time to greet our neighbor. (I know, some of you know your neighbors, I am speaking in general terms.)
We used to pull each other up, now we turn that job over to government, so we don't have to get our hands dirty, or miss an episode of American Idol. And the government loves this, because they can consolidate their power. There's no freedom left. It's all dependence. One way or another, all of us are dependent on government for our daily necessities.
But the vast majority of you are content. Willing cogs in the government machine. You got yourselves so deep in the system you can't find your own ass without the government's help.
Now just sit back and watch what happens when somebody attacks the system. It will be fun.

No, the WORST part is that you think people enjoy your incessant irrelevant posts.

And the only thing relevant about COG is his irrelevance.

Ah, BigTurd. If it wasn't relevant, you wouldn't need to point it out. Thanks for showing us where your wit comes from.

No arguing with that. But what kind of control, besides $ is the government doing. You might be rich enough not to need health insurance, but insurance companies are almost as bad as government insurance (Medicare/aid)
No one would let a fellow human being starve if it was in their power to prevent it. We used to work together as communities. We knew each other. (I know, some of you know your neighbors, I am speaking in general terms.)
This is the very problem with the world today. We don't stay long enough in one area and we often work miles and miles from home where none of our neighbors do. Our sense of community has grown larger.
We used to pull each other up, now we turn that job over to government, so we don't have to get our hands dirty, or miss an episode of American Idol. And the government loves this, because they can consolidate their power. There's no freedom left. It's all dependence. I guess so. No freedom is a bit of an exaggeration. And yes, I want government to pave the roads, provide police protection, military to protect my country, have a court of law to settle our differences peacefully, and to make sure the food I eat is not tainted, and the air and water I use not poisonous. I'm not saying our overall government is perfect or that there are not people gaming the system. The world's and the US is too big to go back to the wild wild west days. Without a government safety net for both individuals and corporations this last down turn would have mad the great depression look mild in comparison. Yes, its been costly and God know who is going to pay for it in the end.<snip>

As typical with chronic complainers is they complain with no solution offered other than bring to a complete end whatever they are complaining about. Just throwing the bums out doesn't solve the problem. See recently Libya and Egypt. Replacing one president w/o a clear deficit reducing budget with another w/o one solves very little.
You can hate up Omaba and the government in general, but it doesn't change things if you don't have a logical alternative.
