Don't let Olivia fool ya, CJ. Her problem with Obama begins and ends with the fact that he's not named Hillary Clinton.

Oh my God, here we go AGAIN. No, I don't like Obama because:

A, He has no experience.
B, He sat in the Senate and voted present while he wrote two books.
C, He is not a leader.
D, He's paralyzed with fear of either not getting elected again or he's just plain afraid to make a decisions in general.

Yes, I voted for Hilary. Yes, I think she has the experience. Yes, I think the Democratic National Committee deliberately torpedoed her campaign when it became even kind of obvious that Obama could win. But I don't dislike Obama because of Hillary. I dislike him because he's an incompetent pussy. THERE is that clear enough?

So how you are going to like the Republicans when they attempt to outlaw all types of birth control, try to make prenatal care against the law.

How is this for an enlightened statement:

"Free prenatal testing ends up in more abortions and therefore less care that has to be done, because we cull the ranks of the disabled in our society," Santorum told the Ohio Christian Alliance conference.

Not only that but Rick Santorum is now calling for the abolition of the public school.

Go ahead and vote for one of those Republicans and see what you get.

Or maybe he realizes that in every issue, there are pros and cons to both sides of the issue that deserve consideration. Bush was certain about everything...and look where that got us.

If you say so. For future reference, however, being someone who voted for the candidate who ran on the concept of a mandate, you'll sound just a wee bit more convincing if you were to cease mocking Obama at every opportunity for the mandate.

So what do you think of Santorum's foreign policy statements?
Job creation?
Fiscal conservativitism?
Our military?
Oil prices and Iran?
Gasoline prices?
Taxation?
Government response to taxpayer concerns?
The welfare state?
Last time I checked Obama isn't forcing anyone to contribute to abortions. Unless you mean requiring coverage for birth control. The pill != abortion so...yeah. I've never seen Obama try and force abortion on anyone o_o.

As far as abortion being covered under health insurance. FISCALLY it makes PERFECT sense, do note that I bolded fiscally . England and Canada both cover it in their NHS or at least subsidize it. Abortions are cheaper than new people to insure. I've never had an abortion so my knowledge of the subject and NHS paying for it are limited to knowing that they do. Apologies for that! I know the "right to life" people up there are against it, but they seem to be the minority. Maybe the fiscal sense of it all appeases them. Who knows?

Also, fetuses aren't legally people and therefore cannot be murdered. I realise it's semantics but murder is a crime, and abortion is legal. A fetus is living so killed is appropriate. But murdered? Over dramatic hot button word people like to use in debates.

In terms of Santorums other views? I think his views on public school and women in general are just atrocious. Combine that with him being anti-birth control and that's enough for me. I don't see gas prices going lower with him, or less people being on unemployment and welfare. If PA is any example, I just see more of the same and I left that hellhole for a reason.

You were smart to get out Pennsylvannia; the Democratic stronghold on that state from the local school boards, to the city councils, to the state government unions, to the statehouse and federal legislature is what destroyed that once proud state and original colony !

God, Louie. Get a grip. No one is going to do that, even if Santorum is elected, which will never happen. It's more likely that a family size limit will be imposed, similar to China.

I hope you don't believe all the BS you post. That would be sad.

Hillary was a practicing attorney since ’73. She was the first female partner for the Rose Law Firm. She was voted twice in the top 100 most influential lawyers in the country. She headed the committee that drafted the Clinton health care plan among other nontraditional First Lady initiatives. And she was a senator that didn’t vote Present as the plurality of her voting record and she didn’t write two books while she was in office.

So she’s a carpet bagger. So what. Lincoln wasn’t from Illinois either.

No, he refuses to lead. It’s paralysis by analysis or he’s just a pussy. But at eventually, a decision must be made.

You know I think W is the village idiot of Texas and a war criminal with an Oedipus Complex so what W did or didn't do is irrelevant to the discussion of whether I think Obama is incompetent or not.

If you'd take your partisan blinders off, you'd see that Obama is a mockery. If he’d just lead, maybe I would mock him so much. Even if he were to lead, I’d still think the job was just handed to him just as the Nobel Peace Prize was.

Louis,

Go read the other thread about Sanatorium. He's a raving, religious lunatic that I compared to the ayatollah.

On a serious note:

Dude, you're bragging about being behind by only 2 points? In one southern state? In a poll that's over 2 weeks old? That's awesome!

And this poll is almost a month old. Before the January jobs numbers came out. Wonder how that poll will shake out now.

Condoms are not medical care. A condom is a piece of latex. Tubal ligation != piece latex. Pills != piece of latex. IUDs != piece of latex. Depo Provera shots != piece of latex. See where I'm going with this? Buying condoms is not birth control. No one is asking insurance to pay for them. What we're asking insurance to pay for is MEDICATION. A lot of insurance companies cover (or used to cover) Viagra but not birth control pills. Does anyone else see something wrong with this picture?

That being said, I'd be hard pressed to think of a doctors office I went to in Canada that DIDN'T have free condoms and assorted goodies! My student health centre gave out dental dams and female condoms too. I quite liked that system as I always found new things to play with when I went to the doctor. Vanilla dental dams, yum

This made me smile, and think of this thread:

"All the rights in the Constitution, which are individually based rights, according to our founders were not there for the individual’s gain, but the reason we established those rights was for the common good. The right to privacy is not the right to a common good. It’s a me-centered right, that obviously started in the sexual revolution with contraception and obviously quickly evolved to abortion, and now has found its way into the marriage debate. And all those acts that were self-giving acts, self-sacrificing acts, have been polluted by this right to privacy" - Rick Santorum

I dislike Maddow, but she links the video of him saying this.

One of the things I will talk about, that no president has talked about before, is I think the dangers of contraception in this country,” the former Pennsylvania senator explained. “It’s not okay. It’s a license to do things in a sexual realm that is counter to how things are supposed to be”:
SANTORUM: [Sex] is supposed to be within marriage. It’s supposed to be for purposes that are yes, conjugal…but also procreative. That’s the perfect way that a sexual union should happen…This is special and it needs to be seen as special.
