Red face In Need Of Advice

I am new here in vegas. This is my first time in this city and I definitely want to say. I cant help but think that I am making a mistake or that I just dont know how things work here... So here are my questions
1) What do I need to expect with vice here
2) Bad areas that I should avoid
3) Has anyone else ever been suckered into looking at time shares (this one had me laughing for about an hour and I just wanted to see the phantom of the opera as I adore that kind of thing.) Meanwhile as with everything else I just need some good advice as this place is confusing me quickly. Last but not least... who serves the best sushi... I hate bad sushi and I am not in the mood to test them all.

1. The key is to screen, screen, screen...vice is not nice here and they do not play.
a. get some reviews and things will get better...
2. Anything around the Stratosphere, any area East of Rancho, South of Craig and North of Alta
3. Time share sucks - check out AM 1400 (same as KSHP.com) for deals
4. I personally like Osaka http://www.lasvegas-sushi.com/html/index.html

Thank you for your advice. Always nice to see someone is nice. I am just hoping that this place doesnt continue feeling cold. I am a nice person and being around all the rudeness I have dealt with (not clients) the past couple of days is really kind of daunting. Definitely going to go to osaka. They had one in greensboro nc (very close to where I used to live) and I hope its a chain because that one had amazing sushi. Thanks again for the advice, it is truly appreciated.

The advise I usually give to touring providers is that Vegas is a tourist town, a convention town (those lonely guys that have most of their expenses paid for and have a chunk of cash to burn on fun). Which means that it's mostly an outcall town, usually on the strip (or very close). Unless you happen to catch a guy that sees your ad while both of you are here at the same time, it's not that great. For us locals, having a combination of rates, services, and incall will draw us outta the woodwork (well, some guys do like it when you make house calls although that address can be hard to find without a decent GPS, my old place had directions through streets that were never made). You can thank movies like the Hangover that makes it seem like it's really easy to find sex (yeah, easy to find, might not be inexpensive or fun) so they just wing it when they get here. Poor suckers until they find review websites like ECCIE. As long as you're in a touristy area, you're pretty much OK. Timeshare hawkers and porn slappers suck.

Unless it's a long appointment (say a dinner date or longer), it's not wise to take deposits. Even the smart guys will check the boards last minute and skip anyone that wants a deposit. It's a flip of a coin if the appointment happens. Blame it on flaky guys and providers. On the visiting guys side, they get caught up in business, gambling/drink too much, made the mistake of picking up some pretty young thing in the casino or nightclub (usually a huge mistake), and the litany of excuses goes on and on.

As for sushi, you really can't do bad here in Vegas. The mass quantities of consumption of raw fish is so great, it gets flown in daily. The places on or near the strip tend to be on the pricier side but you go a bit off strip like Osaka (and if you feel like going towards Silverado Ranch/Anthem, I <3 Sushi) you can find better deals. If you're an adventurous eater, there is this little Japanese place called Abriya Raku, sorta izakaya, closed on Mondays (like most true Jap eateries, some close on Sun too), very interesting mix of delicacies, but you sorta go to drink and socialize and enjoy the company of friends, as the place is open late. Anytime after 10pm, you should have a reservation. Oh, they rarely have sushi there. I think the tourists would rather go to Nobu at the Hard Rock. whatever. A few others to consider, Sushi Roku (Forum Shops/Caesars Palace), Ra Sushi (Fashion Show Mall), Yellowtail (Bellagio? Aria?), Little Buddha (Palms), Koi (Planet Hollywood), Shibuya (MGM), and probably another couple handfuls that I can't recall off the top of my head. oh, there's a Todai's in Miracle Mile/Planet Hollywood. The local equiv is Makino. Probably not your cup of hot tea.

Good luck,
Bob

I can only help with sushi recommendations.

Best with price no object: okada followed by nobu and shibuya (i sometimes can get hooked up at both of those places)

Best non strip location sushi: naked fish and sen of japan. sen of japan is owned by the former nobu head sushi chef and i've seen several local celebrities there late at night

Best all you can eat sushi: goyemon. avoid premade sushi places like todai and makinos. if you go there then you're better off eating teriyaki, tempura, and desserts.

Sadly, Okada (Wynn/Encore) is closed.

Not going to waste your time with advice on the first 3 questions, they are all right on the money.

My favorite sushi place is I Love Sushi on eastern. Also on eastern is Spicy Tuna (former sushi chef from I Love Sushi)

Have fun here!
