Default White House Butler of 8 Presidents Dies

I thought this was a touching article, but I wish he would've told more stories about his life at the White House.

MsElena check out the video "Backstairs at the White House". It is the story of a woman who helped her mother, a maid, who worked at the White House until she also worked at the White House. Her story covers from William H. Taft to Dwight Eisenhower. It stars Leslie Uggams (?).

There have been a few "behind the scenes" shows on the History Channel on the White House and on Air Force One that document several of the people that run the infrastructure of the White House, and I believe that Mr. Allen was featured in the most recent version, discussing his longevity in the position.

What a great story about the life of a humble man respected by some of the greatest men of our time. Humility seems to be a lost art these days.

I'd love to hear the stories that he could've told, but the best part about him is that he never sold those stories to anyone. Class act.

Kinda interesting....think of a HOT political situation during any of the last 8 administrations, and he probably had a story to tell about it....kinda like being a fly on the wall....fascinating.....and thanks for posting this, great story...
