What defines a " Hobbyist " ? Do you have to have seen a Provider BCD to be considered a Hobbyist. If you just post or lurk on here is that sufficient to be labeled ? What if you only see the same Provider for a year or two and don't venture out to new Providers ? Etc. What does it take to get ones wings ?

Well, take snow skiing. If I actually put on the skis and ski, then I am a skier, yes? If I sit on the sidelines and watch others ski, does that make me a skier?

I don't see where a guy could be classified as a hobbyist if he has only sat back and lurked.

To answer the second part I think that if you see a provider or providers more than once you are a Hobbyist. If you only see them once you have rejected the Hobby.
