I have to agree facebook has the face recognition that will pull your personal information to all. I read somewhere that FB data base was larger than le's. Because so many people share with friends and so on. If you have a personal FB and a provider FB you better be extremely careful. I decline to accept picture tagging,tattoos are another way to be identified on fb. That ex boyfriend, or someone of someone recognizes a part of you and then you are linked.There's no going back from there.

Ladies, why in the hell do you want/need a provider Facebook account? Seriously. That's insane to me, considering the dynamics of Facebook (it centralizes information). All it takes is a matching face, name, number, friend, or a common spelling. Your hobby name could be somebody's REAL name. It wouldn't take much to tie the real you and the hobby you together. I don't even like checking Facebook stuff on the same computer I hobby on. In fact, I'm going to quit doing it.

Wanted to share what someone else share with me...with his permission. Sorry it was a long email.

"I think the bottom line is that the “I know her name” is fundamentally a way for certain hobbyists to provide proof that they are “different,” that they aren’t just another wallet with a flagstaff. I can think of a few possible motivations for wanting to prove they are different varies:

1. Some hobbyists seem fundamentally to have a problem with being a hobbyist/client. They want to believe and want others to believe that they really don’t need to hobby to get their kicks, it is more a question of choice and convenience. By proving that they know someone’s first name and personal details, they can separate themselves from what they perceive as a typical pathetic loser hobbyist. These are the same guys who make very romantic gestures to providers, and not because they are appreciative or trying to establish the right ambiance to make the date better for him and the provider, but because the gestures help maintain their (probably delusional) belief that the interaction with the provider is more than a hobby date.

2. There are sport fvck3rs in this hobby and then there are hobbyists whose ultimate goal is get close enough to a provider to play without a donation. This could be because they don’t have the ducats or because this is, to them, the ultimate challenge in the hobby. Being able to brag of getting time off-the-clock with a provider is sort of like the Medal of Honor for hobbyists. Dropping a name and details might be a way to suggest that they are cooler than the average bear to a provider whom they are targeting for no-pay play. These are the same hobbyists who get upset if a provider doesn’t pay them enough attention at a HH or Mixer as validation that they are different and their company is desired even outside of a hobby date construct. They probably do know the first names and personal details of lots of the providers that they date as they are cultivating them as potential off-the-clock playmates.

3. I think some of the hobbyists might simply be very lonely and wanting to establish a friendly relationship with providers. It is relatively easy to meet and then maintain an on-going interaction with a provider compared to meeting someone in a bar, making and going on regular dates, etc. They really see many of the providers that they spend time with as “friends,” perhaps as much as or more than horizontal dance partners, and it seems normal then to refer to them by their first names, as we would any other friend.

4. Some people are simply just crazy indiscrete and don’t even recognize how improper it is to drop a real name, post someone’s personal phone number in an open forum, or say where they moved if they are “on the run” from something or someone.

Interesting letter Shiloh. I will say this we all have various motivations for hobbying. So the letter premise only describes a certain hobbiest. What ever is your motivation is nobodies business unless you care to share but I think the consensus is using that information as leverage or bragging on both sides is lame. IMHO if you know real intel on a provider let it stay btn you and that provider. On a lighter note Shiloh I am outing you to sweetie your name is Jennifer Gonzales muah
