Tim Tebow Does It Again

You can love him, or hate him. But he just did it again, to the Jets.

For the entire game, the Announcers kept saying all of that crap about he is not a real NFL quarterback. And they are right. He is not a "real" NFL quarterback.

So what does he do, with 5 minutes to go, he engineers a 95 yard drive, with Tebow running for 57 yards, including the winning touchdown. A 245 pound option quarterback that can read a defense like a book and run right over line backers.

They call it "Tebow Time". If Tebow gets into that groove, all bets are off. It ain't pretty, it ain't even in the playbook. But he is 4-1 as the starter.

And everybody hates him for it.

A little perspective please. He's beaten Miami, KC and Oakland, none of which are particularly good and now a Jets team that played last Sunday night and had to travel to play a Thursday game. In other words, Rex Ryan really didn't have much time to plan for Tebow, and Tebow was still horrible for 55 minutes. If Sanchez plays even an average game the Jets win easily.

Sorry, but this Tebow thing is not a sustainable NFL offense. At some point you need to be able to pass in this league.

And as far as Tebow's supposed ability to "read defenses like a book", well... let's not get carried away. Basically, all he is doing is taking off and running when he sees an opening. He's not able to exploit a defense with his arm or read coverages and take advantage of them.

This is the NFL! Eventually some coordinator will devise a system to stop Tebow's scrambling and then what do you have? Hey, Miami had success for a season with the Wild Cat offense and then everyone figured out how to stop it. The same thing is going to happen to the game Tebow is playing now.

The NFL is a passing league and at some point your quarterback has to be able to throw the ball. What happens if Denver ever gets 2 scores behind a team that isn't Miami?

Do you really think Tebow can hang with Brady, Brees or Rodgers in a shoot out type of game? He's beaten 4 teams that have weak quarterback play and that has allowed him to still be in the game late.

He has been lucky but in betting it is better to be lucky than good! I will keep betting aganuist the SOB , if I have any play money left that is!

He's like Michael Vick when he came into the league. Like Vick, he needs to learn to pass from the pocket better or he'll be on IR.

The NFL is a passers league. Kurt Warner is by far the better 'Jesus-y' NFL QB.

Check. While the NFL is a passing oriented league you can use a run based offense. Up to a point. Then you must throw a pass or the better defenses will shutdown Timmy. I'm still waiting for him to get lit up by some of the top linebackers like Urlacher or Ray Lewis. You just KNOW animals like them are waiting for the chance to pop him one.

Actually he is not very good. Up until that point the offense under him had totalled all of 80 yards and one field goal. The defense intercepted a pass and scored. Without that score it would have been 13-3 at that point. Note that the offense under Tebow has been extremely low scoring and has struggled to gain respectable yardage. Against REAL teams like the Lions and Packers they were totally trounced. When you're losing by 30 that last minute drive doesn't mean much. So far he has won against bad teams and gotten pounded by better than average teams.

Totally agree with everything. What do you mean will, the Jets already did. It is important to note that in their last 8 drives before the last one Denver went 3 and out. Do 8 straight 3 and out against good teams like the Packers, Saints, Cowboys, Texans, Pats, Steelers and you will be so far behind it won't matter what you do the last few minutes.

I get the feeling that the consensus here is that Denver didn't deserve to win against the jets

Loved Tebow in college, and he got away with a lot of stuff there that won't fly in the pros, where speed kills. That being said, I was still smiling and shaking my head at that last (95 yd.!) drive.

I also agree he's on borrowed time. He's a concussion waiting to happen unless he learns how to pass.
