The state of Texas regularly issues VALID I.D's and Drivers Licenses to officers in undercover assignments, they may even attach bogus criminal and driving histories to them, with DWI's, speeding, etc.... This is regularly done in Narcotic units,In Vice and in the DA's Organized Crime Unit,... Done in order to enhance their "Street Creds"... been done for as long as I can remember... Bad guys can have someone on the inside, or links to the criminal and drivers license databases, as well as be able to to license plate verification.. Lawyers and bonding companies have the ability to pay and register to obtain all that information on their clients... it would not be hard for anyone with connections to get the info.. so TxDPS will assist LE agencies in obtaining VERIFIABLE bogus info on UC officers... therefore having a Private Investigator look into that data base will not give them any clue.. those data bases will note or "Flag" who and when an inquiry on that ID was made.. therefore, the informant with access to the database with have some questions to answer... or if he is not LE, just have their access denied of limited.....

As far as engaging in criminal activity to arrest or make a case... YES.. to a VERY LIMITED POINT... they can't do drugs to catch a drug dealer.. they cannot engage in a sex act then file charges.. for they too would be "Engaging" and that they cannot do... Speed to catch a speeder, yep, run red lights, yep... Commit a Class B misd, to file a Class B... or a B or A misd.. to file a Felony... not hardly...

I'm not saying that it has not been done... but if it is, and it is found out about and proven... the cop is done.. Remember "Just Ask Kelly" last year?

She did audio recording of her "Arrest" ... it cost the cop his job... good for her..

This is very true in Columbus. I worked at a spa there and UC LE used to get full service and with as many girls before coming back to arrest them . Luckily I was chicken and gave only massages. My gut feeling at that time was on high alert. I didn't stay to long either.

I don't think they will because your right it has their real name on the license but you never know just depends on the situation and the person. I once went to see a man at a hotel in Orange County during an outcall and he knew it was protocol but refused to show me his ID, so I left. Nothing happened.

He may be an undercover (no pun intended) cop -- in which case, how do you know he's not showing you a driver's license with an alias instead of true name?

As so many here have indicated, there is no substitute for rigorous screening and "gut" instinct.

True, I was in an Eastern city one night and a young woman crossed the street while I was stopped for a red light.

After the light turned green, a cop car swung around and turned on their light, when the two of them came to my car they demanded to know what "that girl said to me". When I told them said nothing, it looked like she was in a hurry to get someplace else, they didn't believe me. They got back in the car and chased her down pulled her over, put her in handcuffs and took her in.

She didn't do anything. It really looked like she was trying to get home.

She was out at night by herself and she got arrested.

Bummer!

In Chicago they are very sneaky. They get fake business cards made up to match i.d. so watch out for that too.

Instead of having someone do your private detective work for you ALL in Texas or anywhere else join :www.beenverified.com ask him for hes 1st name last name ,hes work number & cell # and hes home number and tell him it has to match hes id ,You cant hide from beenverified.com its 100 a month unlimitied as many times looking up anyone .Le can lie we all know that what else is new, but beenverified .com doesnt .

I don't think the ID thing will help at all it you are trying to flush cops out with it. It may help you flush out some creeps, but even then there may be some legit guys that get spooked when you ask for an ID as well. Problem is that undercover cops will have fake IDs that look damn good (after all, they will be gov't issue) and they are allowed to lie to you about their identify as part of their cover.

Please remember all the screening you do is really for your safety. LE can get you if they want you. As the old school police used to say. "it's not what you did it's what I say you did". Honestly once they are in your room you are going to jail. Good luck be safe...
