I didn't mean to imply that anything Sam54 wrote was incorrect. This IS a business, a unique segment of the service industry. And the providers are all performance artists.

I also agree with Doove that the women who take on this responsibility do so and then have to figure it out as they go. And it only SEEMS easy; it's not. But, I have to disagree with Doove about one thing, though, and MBA is NO guarantee against bad business judgment. I wish it were. Most ruined enterprises were destoryed by business veterans with impressive MBAs.

So, maybe, Brooke's shortcoming was to indulge her frustration at our expense, but I would never want to suggest that her frustration wasn't justified. It probably was. Having dealt with people in a retail world for years, I have seen people act like complete, burdensome idiots.

Here's what it is: I would ask to see a young woman like Brooke precisely because of the youthful outlook she possesses, in addition to her other qualities, just as I might ask to see a more mature provider because of her unique viewpoint and personality. And when a guy asks to see a youthful provider, he has to accept that her youthful attitude carries over into everything she thinks and does. It's part of the fun, really.

Brooke's demeanor is understandable. Not wholly positive, no, but not that big a deal, either. She is an effervesant young woman, sometimes effusive and overly-exuberant, yes, but still charming in every respect, just the same. We're all in different phases of Life, and it's sometimes helpful to show tolerance toward those in a different phase than we (think) we are.

Doove, there is no question in my mind that you make a valid point about the fact that sometimes the ladies DO get jumped on for speaking their minds BUT in this case, I can honestly say, that for ANYONE to begin a post and present the topic in such a condescending way is beyond reproach ... and then to lie! and lash out after already making a complete and utter ass of themselves ... ok never mind that THAT happens alot ... but I hope you get my point.

But I thought brooke had a good thread here. I took it as venting off some steam. So I am guessing others where upset with what they thought was the tone of the posts. Not its content. The content was good. But if others replied without saying they felt talked down to. She would have cooled off. And still have her showcase up. I hope she brings it back. But then I did agree with most of what she stated. But it is unwise when one see frustration to reply back with with more of the same. As it may lead to anger. Yes i'm guilty of that with you. But I was trying to lead you on. Am I am ok with that with the guys. We need to learn to keep the gloves on with the lady's. Even if they took there's off. Dove, I understand what you are saying but respectfully disagree.

The comments about the business models etc. not with standing to lash out in such a condescending way is not wise!

I have no doubt that she has experienced exactly what you described. From conversations with other providers I know that to be only to true BUT to lash out and be condescending is one thing but when she openly lies or claims something that is a known falsehood ... thats where I have an issue.

She started the tread and could have presented it in a different way that would have resulted in a much different response. A response, I might add, that would have been much more positive and supportive from me ... not that that is what she was looking for!

The fact that I have never contacted her and after reading my post she was gracious enough to let me know that I am on her DNS list surprised me! The fact that she responded the way she did and treated others so poorly was also surprising!

Be it age, experience, or just being naive ... Lashing out and speaking down to people, especially potential customers/clients is, for all intents and purposes, idiocy.

And for all of the ladies, including Brooke, who have to deal with the idiotic emails/calls/etc. to screen I sincerely apologize to you for that fact!

If I chose to see a provider I'll give you the information you require because obviously I have an interest in seeing you and I owe you that because I am looking forward to spending time with you!

You're a little behind. After Jokacz reminded me of a conversation he and i had about a provider he didn't name at the time, it turned out i never referred to anyone as a shill. Though i did use the term "enabler", and I proceeded to admit as much to the provider in question. She's ok with it, so you should be too. By the way, i hear she doesn't fit the description anymore. Good on her, wouldn't you agree?

And i know what the term "shill" means. I just didn't understand how it could be used to describe a provider.

Good question, OSD. I suppose my initial thought on that is "when you can do so respectfully". The mere idea of a gang of middle aged men ganging up on a young lady of any age (but particularly girls in their early 20's) seems just so wrong to me on so many levels. And when it's in a forum where she'll do damage to her business by fighting back, this only makes it worse.

Your insults just keep gettin' better and better. Here's the thing. When i agree with the hobbyists, there are no doubt going to be enough people jumping on the bandwagon so there's no real need for me to speak up. When i agree with the providers, there is typically nobody speaking up for them - including other providers - who have to concern themselves with not upsetting their client base. So i speak up.

And the more apparent it becomes to me that the girls are up against a bunch of asshats who have little to no respect for them beyond their willingness to suck a dick, the more likely i am to come to their defense.

Sometimes you're the asshat. If you will acknowledge that, we're cool. You are not without fault, none of us are.

I can name four specific providers you've asshatted in the past year.

A little humility, that's all... it goes a long way.

If I'm behind the times, it is largely because I try to avoid you. If you are now admitting to referring to a specific provider as a shill, then I'm cool with you. We all make mistakes... all of us. You do come across as more self-righteous than nearly all hobbyists on this board.
