I dont know either, just seems like it would. Like I said, Im no expert. I do know that St. Judes charges nothing. Again, I dont know the age of the child in question, but I do wish her and him the best. Seems like the Shriners Hospital also has a program that is free.

Medicaid is not based on logic or sound medicine but politics, and politics is about spending money, they pay for both sides 100% when a miner is involved.

I'm not a doctor, I don't know the OP and I tend to be wary of any requests for help here. But, I have seen what happens when a doctor or medical practice gets it in their head to try an experimental treatment on a patient.

Assuming this is an experimental treatment for this ailment (Something I personally do not know), it would not at all be surprising if a doctor was steering her towards it. It is precisely what happened with my father, who is fighting cancer as we speak. The doctors wanted him to try a new form of gene therapy, and a lot of time and money was wasted before my parents finally got enough information to determine the treatment was not really all it was cracked up to be. Even getting that took a lot of research on their part because what they were being given by the doctors painted a much different picture.

In his case it was not devastating because, to be blunt, the cancer he has is 100% fatal so any time wasted didn't really impact his chances of survival. The main loss to my parents had to do with wasted time and a lot of wasted money. But in the case of the OP it is entirely possible she has been steered down a treatment path that is experimental and expensive.

I admit this is only a theory, but it's why I am not quick to dismiss her claims simply because it wouldn't be a "standard treatment".

Lets just suffice it to say that the nature of the disorder, the etiology of how he developed said disorder, and the claims regarding medicaid do not add up. I'm not delving further into this than I have. If its a legitimate claim, I can help Brit get this taken care of without needing any money. Thus far, she has not shown any interest in my help in that realm.

To keep it simple: He does not have cancer, he allegedly had a scorpion sting, he may have had a reaction and needed Epi, Epi is just adrenaline and does not destroy the immune system. If he did have said condition then the treatment is mostly diet and supplement based with transplantation necessary for only patients with certain underlying conditions, a scorpion sting is not one of them. Also if he did have said condition then Medicaid, St. Jude, Shriners, Children's Hospital and many other places would cover it 100%.

I know this has been mentioned, but it is worth repeating. Please check with local and non-local children's hospitals for any charity programs. I would start with Children's in Dallas, Cook Children's in Fort Worth, St. Jude's and even Mayo Clinic. If you lived in Dallas County, I would also recommend the Parkland system.

If your son is covered by insurance, and this is truly the only treatment that will save his life, I would double-check to see why it is excluded, and then what they recommend instead.

BTW - there is usually a maximum out of pocket on an insurance plan, and it tends to be 5K or less, depending on your plan. I have rarely seen a plan with an OOP up to $40K.

Out of pocket expense doesn't matter for a nonexistent problem. This was just an attempt to make a buck for nothing and she could have said the kid had parvo and people would have been ready to throw money at her.
