Hi all,

My ex-gf had told me about how her and her family would go to the movies, buy tickets and then after the movie was over, they would go see a different movie without paying. I was kind of surprised because I would expect this to be something teenagers would do, not grown adults lol Is this a common thing for other people to do? I was just curious as to how many people on the board have ever done this?

You'd never catch me doing it. I think it stinks personally, though some reckon with the ridiculous prices of tickets and concessions that is their way of getting their moneys worth. Of course, I just payed to see Captain America two days in a row because it was so bloody fun, so who am I to say?

I am not going to lie. I do it every once in a while especially on lazy Sundays. I went to see to XMEN First Class and then snuck in to see Super 8. I am glad I did it because Super 8 was by far the worst piece of shit since 10,000 BC. If I paid, Super 8 was one of the few instances where I would actually write the studio to refund my money. But I will say this. When the Big Blockbusters (Dark Knight, Iron Man, Transformers) come out, I dont movie hop. I actually pay full IMAX 3D prices and stand in line a couple of hours for a good seat. Its quite an experience.

Here is something I cant believe people do. Last time I stood in line for hours to see Transformers 3 in 3D IMAX. I wanted to make sure I get my usual seat. Mid Center. Well a couple of minutes before showtime, a lady comes by and asks me if the seat next to me was occupied. I said no. She asked if the seat next to my girl was occupied, we said no. Then she said can I scoot over so she can have two seats together. I respectfully said no. She asked why. I said because I stood in line for 2 hours to make sure I get a good seat for a movie that cost me 40 bucks. She then said that she wanted a good seat. I told her that I was sorry and that she should have been there earlier.

The crazy bitch went bat shit and went after the manager. The manager came to me and asked me to move over. I said no. I explained the situation and I said that the only way I will move if he both gives me a refund and allows me to stay for the movie. He said he couldnt do that. I then apologize and told him I wasnt moving. I then she that the lady and her date were more than happy to sit in the seat next to me and sit in the seat next to my girl. I told him that I am not denying her seat. I am just not moving. The lady got pissed and left. She ended up sitting in the very front with the rest of the late arrivals. LIKE SHE SHOULD!!

After the movie was over, I went to the manager and I told him that I didnt appreciate the inconvinence. I told him that i took his staffs advice by arriving early and insuring a good seat. I said it wasnt fair for him to punish me for listening to the advice and awarding the lady for not. He apologized and gave me 2 free ticket vouchers. I will use those vouchers for an early showing and then sneak into 2 more movies.

Sorry for the rant. This shit has been in me since the beginning of the month.

Hot Damn JM, moving over one seat wouldn't a killed ya!

Me and my ole lady woulda sat on each side of you and threw popcorn back and forth 'till you moved over that one seat!

I would have caught the majority of them and then thanked you for the free popcorn.

But to be honest, alot of people stood in line to get a good seat. They came in at the last minute and demanded a good seat. Entitlement is a weakness of man.

I hate to admit this, but my parents do this. They have been doing it for years. They are well over 50 years old. When I was a teenager they would make the entire family do it. We saw so many movies for free. Sometimes we would catch a movie halfway thru, sometimes in the beginning. If it looked like the movie was at the end, we would just leave and go to another screen. Now days, I do not do that. My parents still do. To me it is stealing. My mother also steals food from the buffet. She lines her purse with plastic bag and shovs tons of chicken and other dry foods in. They pay for 1 buffet meal but end up getting left overs to take home. When they leave her purse is sizzling from all the hot foods in there. Geez! Boys and Girls don't try that at home.

If I had gone through that to get a seat, I wouldn't move either. I have noticed on slow nights that they take your ticket at the checkout and there is no ticket taker as on busier nights. It seems you could easily check out another movie, but I don't.

A long, long, time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, we sat through the very first Star Wars twice and nobody said anything.

I have never done it, but have a couple friends that do it. They usually go on the slow nights when there aren't too many employees around.

Heck, do they even make one movie worth seeing anymore...but the idea of seeing a second one for free or for pay sounds torturous

All these cartoon-figure movies for the kids are fine...and those with all the special effects, but no substance....again fine for the kiddies

But I have a hard enough time being able to find one movie worth seeing

JM you have much more restraint than I. Have you contacted the Theaters GM or Corporate Office regarding their employees conduct? I would say I'm amazed that the Acting Manager even responded to the the woman's req. to ask you to move so she could have your seat.

As for the Thread Topic I have heard of the practice but have never done that or considered it.

First of all, I loved the movie. The last movie I saw opening weekend Harry Potter's first half of the last movie. My daughter and I got tickets four hours early and got in line an hour early. I understand how you feel. I'd have probably moved over, but I might not if the lady flipped me any attitude. On the flipside, if it wasn't opening weekend, I would have asked you minded moving. If you did, then I'd have sat in the available seats without the fight.
