Liberalism is a mental disorder.
To quote Michael Savage, liberalism IS a mental disorder, or Albert Einstein who said that insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result.
The democrats in Congress are wanting to cut the military back to 1992 levels again but can't bring themselves to cut NPR, ACORN (by whatever name it goes by now), or money to Media Matters. This people are so irresponsible it blows one's mind. However, when you read the caliber of people here who support them on this board then it is more understandable.

Doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result, like cutting taxes and magically expecting job production to increase as a result of "tax cuts".
I'm pretty sure that what the democrats want to cut out of the defense budget are the pork-filled defense contracts that were awarded, without entertaining alternative, and possibly cheaper, bids to companies like Haliburton, during W's terms.
A large and bulky military is so 18th century. If anything can be learned from the "war on terror" a smaller, more mobile force with cooperation and intelligence supplied by a coordinated intelligence community is preferable unless prolonged occupation is the objective, in which case a "surge" is necessary.
Iran is a threat to whom? And should China ever decide to destroy the U.S. all they have to do is call in their debts....

Iran is a threat to whom? LOL! Now THAT'S funny! That joke may not play as well in Tel Aviv or Riyadh, but here it's funny!

Mental Disorder
Well I never cared much for Iran since the hostage crisis played out 2 blocks from where I worked. Just never saw so much hate.
Israel has 200-300 nuclear war heads in order to defend itself from Iran who is trying to make it's first one.
Iran is the country that initially offered to help us defeat the Taliban and Al Queda in Afghanistan but we said no.
Iran is the country that when G.W., Rummy and the Seven Deferments wanted to go War should have attacked.
I think they are a threat.

Actually the idea behind tax cuts has been proven by both democrats and republicans more than once. Two recent examples; JFK and Ronald Reagan. The only problem with both times is that spending increased faster than the revenue base expanded. I could point out that the congress in both cases was controlled by democrats, but I won't.
I see that no one has a response to the lack of initiative for democratic programs.
In 1992 the military was downsized to the point that the democrats claimed the military was undermanned when Clinton sent them to Bosnia. The USS Cole was bombed recieving fuel in port because all of the replenishment ships had been decommissioned. This is important now because of the story released yesterday of two replenishment ships nearly completed in the late 1990s, but stopped, are now being scrapped at a loss of $300 million. After nearly a decade of war our military needs to be rebuilt, not downsized again. World I, World II, Korea, Vietanm, the Cold War, the first Gulf War, and now the democrats have always been quick to reduce the military. We paid the price in World War II and Korea. Should we have to reduce Iran and their nuclear arsenal do we have the time to rebuild? Remember in the military, a dollar saved could be a life lost.

Spoken
Like a true Galley Cook in fear of having to peel and boil potatoes in lieu of instant which is more expensive.
John Galt your Navy is showing again.
Foolish and backward thinking to rearm in the same way. There is a new Paradigm for modern warfare and it isn't the same as you advocate.

If they're a threat to Tel Aviv or Riyadh, then let Tel Aviv and Riyadh take care of the problem. You war-mongers are looking for an excuse to.. well, keep a war going, or at least the threats of war that are politically exploitable. Iran was a nobody until W decided to label it a part of an "axis" of evil in his attempt to set the tables for, and create an atmosphere for WWIII.

I think that it should be downsized until the financial affairs are in order. And it doesn't matter who was in charge of congress. But, since you want to politicize the affair... After a decade of war, the only thing our military needs is a break - to be brought home. Spoken like someone who's never been deployed. And before you jump into the "I was G.I. Joe" routine, save it.

WoW, Really. I posted an obviously obnoxious reply to an obviously obnoxious response by Fritz, and Omahan Jr. aka BigBird Dog had issued a warning before i'd finished typing. I guess we have a "Tea Party" movement on ECCIE - gonna right all the wrongs in one fatal sweep, huh. The best way to make a correction, is to make it publicly - not in some shady-ass, politicized, behind closed doors, throw a rock and hide your hand, snake in the grass.. A correction made publicly is for all to see and hear and also insures fair play. the sandbox has been a pretty open zone, but hey there's always room for the power hungry and the mod who just got a hard-on after realizing that ,"I can Give points!"
If you were lurking in the background waiting for an infraction, then you should have made a response to Fritz's comment, an on the board caution, that would have let others know not to respond in kind.... Do your job before the infraction, and you won't have to do it after as well....

Let me tell CND a little story to illustrate my point. When I was in high school I was reading (I like to read) a book about World War II. A person with a sloping forehead so the word "Soviet Union" (yeah, I know its two words but I'm quoting him) in the book so he deduced I must be a communist. He also saw the word "Germany" so I must be a Nazi. Imagine, this person with a double digit IQ thought that I was both a Nazi and a Communist.
So back to the present. I write something about the navy and CDN with his mastery of all things irrelevant somehow decided it makes me a navy person. As I recall I also wrote something about the army so there you go.
As for 9, you sound a little paranoid. If it makes you feel better I got some points in the last week and I AM the TEA Party so it must have been some kind of socialist cabal responsible.
I do have some military in my background (no, CDN is still crazy) and 95B is my clue.

9, I'm a warmonger? LOL! I figured you didn't read anything I wrote. You said Iran was not a threat. I was just pointing out how stupid that was. I never said we should start a war with them. It must be nice living in your own little world.
